It sucks trying to stand up the outer sheets. They are 20’ sticks. Any longer and we couldn’t handle it. I had them cut the truss pieces shorter and there will be a seam at 17’.
Not much to report in. I just had 10 pallets of Bermuda brought in. Luckily I had them install it. My old body wouldn’t take that abuse.
Looking great Chris!!! Congrats on the house sale and making the move over full time. Hopefully won't take long now.
I have a small one. I haven’t talked been working on the siding on the mega wall. My hands and arms look like I fought a tiger. My buddy’s wiring the house and while he was there he loaned me his man lift! Way faster and more agile than the tower of doom. I was gonna wait to post it, until I was completely finished, but here ya go.
We also got a buttload of rain in a short amount of time. Roughly 5 inches in 24 hours. I got a little water in the shop side of the place, but I have a little more dirt work to help with that. Here are some pics of my neighbors place . They put out an SOS to the neighbors asking for help, so I ran up there and got wet. The pond upstream busted the dam. All hell broke loose. These pics are on the back porch. At least I don’t have to water my new sod.
So, this isn’t a major update, but there is a local chain called Joanne’s fabric. They are going under and selling everything in the store. Fixtures and all. I took a chance and asked the manager what they would take for the fabric racks. Well $770 later I am the proud owner of 6 sections of fabric display racks. It should hold approx 9 rolls of fabric per section. I am getting the brackets, rolls and the racks. Going to pick them up in the morning.
So, I show up to start breaking it all down and the Manager comes by and I asked her “How much if I take the rest of the racks?”. So for another $200 I got the last 4 racks and brackets. SonI have a total of 10 sections now. I’m an idiot.
So, my first line of business once I retired was to finish the “Wall of Doom” (TM) . I got the old awnings I picked up off of FB mounted and painted. Windows cased out etc. One huge headache out of the way. I still have to finish the landing and staircase.
Today was a good score day for the old Dust Bowl Speed Shop World Headquarters. The wife told me this morning that a local estate sale had a lot of engines and tools, it was a fellow drag racer that had passed. I picked up 4 big commercial bolt bins. I'll post pics, once I get them unloaded. Then we see a Jafco MCM wooden desk for sale on FB Marketplace. I had been watching it for about a week, but they wanted like $450 for it. Well, today they cut the bid in half to $220. I offered $200 and said I would be there to pick it up today. They took the offer and we ended up with this. It's for the shop office. The office will be period correct 1960-65, for the most part. I have been collecting original light fixtures and wall plate covers, as I see them. Anyway, here is the pic of the desk.
