I bought this collection at an estate sale. I want to spend my time working on tether cars, so I don't have the time to fix these up, so I'm only keeping 2, the 36 ford and the green custom Buick. I would like some advice on selling the rest. I'd like to sell them as a lot. There are a lot of parts that have come off the cars, and some of the tires have reacted with the plastic parts and melted them. Most of the cars seem like they were well made. There are also a lot of spare parts and decal sheets. Can anyone give me an idea of the value of the collection? I can post more detailed photos if anyone wants a close up view. If anyone is interested in buying, PM me. I live about 20 miles north of Washington DC, and I really don't want to ship the models, though I would travel some to meet someone part way. I would also trade for tether cars. The models were not in the correct boxes. I'm keeping them in the boxes they have been in to keep them with any loose parts.
holy smokes; you scored. i would contact Doug White ( (1) Model Car Muse - YouTube ) he's got contacts up the wazoo! sprue@modelcarmuse.com
Can not remember if I posted this custom truck but it came with the big bunch of parts I picked up a couple years ago,it's a shortened AMT 62 F 100 and do not think it was finished. It's getting a shortened 56 F 100 chassis. Going to be a rainy day project this summer.
this site can help getting a manufacturers timeline: Scalemates, scale modeling database | stash manager
I went back to the same estate sale, and got lucky again. While I was looking at tools, a guy working there said there were more models in the basement. These have not been assembled. the 2 53 trucks were barely started on. The original owner was going to make custom versions of the truck, so one had been puttied and sanded around the grille opening, and the other has had the openings for the front and rear bumper brackets puttied over, but not sanded. There are some store receipts from '63 and other cool advertising in a couple boxes too.
oh how i remember the AMT Styline kits. and that little tube of hard putty thrown in each one. i think some had a sheet of self adhesive fuzzy stuff which could be cut up for upholstery. the pattern was printed on the back any 10 year old, in theory, could be his own Tony Nancy. of course the Revell '56 Ford pickup was the kit nightmares were made of, and could easily send a lad back to his American Flyer train layout for the entire summer school vacation.
This custom truck was most likely started back in the 60s and never finished,it's a Revell 56 F 100 with Revell 57 Ranchero quarters on the bed along with the custom front from the AMT 50 Ford kit
New in this thread, here's the '55 Chevy "Badman".. but wait.. it's got a hemi!!! I always come here on h.a.m.b to see old pics of '55 chevy gassers to get more inspiration on this one, the engine options for this project are: this dual plug hemi or a 427 big block chevy (both supercharged), the original engine from this kit i think it's too small for this bad boy, maybe i put that engine on a '32 Roadster that i want to replicate Tom Mcmullen's roadster! I'll be showing more of it and others in progress!
I finally have space to build models again so I've built these since being settled in.. The shoebox and f100 based on my actualy rides.
Hey guys n gals... I was thinking about having this thread moved over to the off topic section of the hamb... I've got hundreds more pictures to post and I don't want start no static with the mods.... What do you think????.... Please let me know.....
Please keep this thread traditional. It would become overrun and I, for one, would probably skip reading it. Maybe start a thread for off topic models. I am not against new stuff, and I do enjoy a lot of the off topic threads. But if we change too many of the good traditional threads, we loose the true meaning of the H.A.M.B. And just a side note, my opinion only. And nothing against anyone at all, and this applies to all threads... I would prefer to see less content from Internet Images and mostly photos from members vehicles and models and/or things they have actually seen in person. ie. What you saw today, thead. I know I don't post my models (I haven't built any in ages), although I was posting my garage diorama build until it stalled. Hope to get back on it soon and then start building models again. Not trying to start anything but the question was asked. Ron
Ok, well I'll just start a new thread then on the off topic part on the forum.... But it will include some on topic models also....
