    Hello All!

I am the archivist at The Cobra Experience in Martinez, California

One of my pet projects is to research the origins of all the people who made Ford's Le Mans effort a success .... especially close to my heart are the Hot Rodders!

So, why don't we start a thread depicting how all of our heroes got started

Phil Remington was a Santa Monica Low Flyer, to start this thing off

dates, stories and any related images encouraged

The very first Shelby Cobra, CSX2000, was built in Dean Moon's shop in Santa Fe Springs, CA in 1962.

Carroll Shelby got his first ch***is from AC Cars in Great Britain and hired some of the Moon staff to install the Ford 260 V8 in it.

Mooneyes is still at the same location.

I used to attend a men's hot rod bible study until my hours at work changed. Afterwards we would go into the shop and work on each others cars. Richard had an AC Cobra and Dean Moons shop did the engine it. It was a 63 low numbered like 8? We freshened up the engine and installed it in the shop after bible study over several weeks/months. Richard let me take it out for a spin, what a blast to drive.Richard p***ed away and I don't know what ever happened to it. cobra4.jpg cobra3.jpg cobra2.jpg cobra1.jpg cobra.jpg cobra7.jpg
