Just about. The bend, however simple, really adds something to the look of the frame. It gives it some sort of legitimacy.

That looks great. When you did your front cross member, how much did you leave hanging out front to fold back over the round stock??

very nice kirk! i have a question for you, i will be fabricating a frame in the near future and i also want the "pinch" in the front, so how thick was your cut in the frame to achieve the pinch?

I can measure when I get back home, but it was literally the width of the cutoff wheel in my chop-saw. So, maybe 1/8th?

I've been weldng for about 10 years, but I have only been welding properly for about 4. I took a full-time semester at the local community college (day and night cl***es) and got to certification level in MIG and ARC. I learned how BAD my welding was. I had thoughts of a career change but fell into the Goodguys thing instead. Definitely for the better.

I don't remember exactly. I cut a piece of wire to fit the open end of the tube and then measured it. That's the amount of "tab" I left hanging out.

  23. Hey Kurt, not sure if you'll see this for awhile. But I was wondering if you angled the frame twice. I drew a pic to show better my question. Top view. Or if you could post a top view of the frame that would be way cool.

It's similar to the first illustration except that the front part of the rails are not parallel, they just taper at a slighter angle than the rear half.
