This is just too crazy, thank God you're still alive. I ride around my subdivision 4 days a week. I nearly had a head on with a neighbor in her new van 2 weeks ago, she was looking down at her phone when she got really big in front of me. I took an evasive to the smooth grass nearby, but I could tell she was pretty shook. You hang in there, and keep fighting through the rehab. I know you're pretty tough. Keep going.

Well we got everything done on our list this evening.

  3. I got the black beast fired up today, was the first time this year, last November I was able to get it around the block a couple times before it was put away into winter hibernation.
No leaks so it looks like I have a green light to give it a few more shakedown miles and get it inspected so it's all legal like again.

20230121_160438.jpg 20250501_162614.jpg 20250515_203744.jpg The serpentine belt that drove the blower and the clutch started slipping at 3500 last year. Due to the high tension of the lousy belt the waterpump bearing started to fail as well so the engine was pulled and modified. The french flathead was converted to a 2" toothed belt and made the blower ratio a bit faster as well. I ground the cam for a bit more lift by grinding the bottom lobe. Sounds angry and has a nice rumble. Now I have a small belt running pumps and alternator and the toothed belt for the blower. Managed to pack it very tight so the engine got only 1,5" longer. The 9,5" clutch was replaced by a 11" clutch so hopefully this will hold the power. The firewall was remodeled around 2,5" so there should be no space problem - will find out this weekend. Got the spacers cuts and new long bolt's also got the turnbuckle adjuster. Think it turned out pretty good.

Picked up a multimeter/dwell meter last summer. Last month found a rusted up Craftsman tool box in curbside free pile. Sandblasted/painted and just installed meter tonight. Perfect size for timing light and miscellaneous tune up tools. IMG_2547.jpeg

@BigRRR That material is the bee's knees!

Wasted my time on this today:
Before (left) & after (right). It looked much better in my mind's eye, than it did to my real eyes.
401 Nailhead piston tops & cheap filters so my flathead can breathe better than with the old bonnet style.

It looks better on the engine. I'll get some stainless acorn nuts for the top to finish them off.

When you get them polished they will look much better! Oh and use acorn nuts instead of plain hex nuts to retain them.

Need some door pull handles. Luckily I had a old die in my stash to make the pull ends. IMG_2093.jpeg IMG_2091.jpeg

    That's beautiful Lloyd!

  18. I like it, I agree that if you polish those it'll look even better, I might go rummage my junk pile and see if I have any pistons in the correct diameter.

  22. I went a little backwards and went back and welded in this missing fender brace bracket that I robbed from the old fender.
I probably should have done that before painting the fender lol, I also stripped the braces and gave them a coat of Por-15 primer and a couple coats of satin black.

While waiting on paint to dry I made a new bone for the shrunken head out of the paintbrush handle.

Dave, must be that time. I found this in my metal pile inside the shop. I have had Rattlesnakes, but this turned out to be a Bullsnake. They eat the rattlers so I turned it loose.

My AC has lost its gas, seems that the o ring around the plate that holds the crank seal in on the compressor has failed, pulled it off and took it to my friendly AC guy who is going to get a rebuild kit. Every now and again you’re really lucky and find someone who knows their stuff, especially on 50 year old AC systems; “had that problem before on combine harvesters” was his response.
