Is there a AA/GAS car that Chuck wasn't involved in some way or another.

First one is at Street Rod Nats in Tulsa OK I think 76. The car was just finished 2 weeks before we left from LI. second picture is a young Ray Kobel, ( yellow 40 Willys C/G coupe) he found the truck in CA and drove it to work every day before they sent it back to NY. Third picture is at Centre Island beach that's LI sound in background, I bought the truck from my friend in 69 and proceeded to crash it the first week I had it, (a brake line broke) Last picture is on the streets of Hicksville NY with the new engine 400 SBC and paint around 72.

    Hello,

Chuck Finders has his influence in a lot of Gas Coupes and Sedans. The list is long and impressive.

Since 1960, when we had a 671 supercharged SBC motor in our own 1940 Willys Coupe, that was the start of the inclusion of the Isky Gilmer Belt Drives on plenty of SBC motors to this day. It was fortunate that my brother and I just happened to have the newest Isky Gilmer belt drive and Edlebrock manifold set up for an SBC motor. There was one other racer with the #1 unit and they were not yet on the market for the general public. By a month or so, everyone could have an Isky-Gilmer Belt Drive for an SBC motor.

It was powerful and sat nicely in our Willys Coupe.

The 671 had been around for a couple of years and gained fame on the top eliminator class racers. Then as they trickled down to the street legal classes, no one had a 671 belt drive kit for an SBC motor. Since the advent of the latest Isky-Gilmer belt drive, it is now a common place to see this kit on a lot of street legal SBC motors.

But, in early 1960, a few racers had the 671 blower drive kit on their SBC motors.

As the year rolled on, the names we all associate with Gas Coupes and Sedan race cars leads back to Chuck Finders.

In and around 1963-64, the popularity of the 33 Willys Coupe models were gaining strength in the class racing rules. By the time the whole Gas Coupe and Sedan class races were waning with the new prospective on drag racing, those old 40-41 Willys Coupes and the latest 33-36 Willys Coupes/Sedans also fell by the wayside in the long gone class racing.

Search for “Chuck Finders” or Finders/Altizer” Willys Coupe and the search parameters gives a long list of associated Gas Coupes and Sedan builds that Chuck Finders had a hand in the design or builds… YRMV

  29. This steel bodied 1933 Willys coupe Chuck Finders got from me many years ago. It was an original, one owner coupe that the owner's father bought for her in 1933
