Hot Rods New deuce Vicky owner

  1. Spent the last couple of days getting an early 60’s Ford gen fit in place of the alternator. The alternator mounting bracket with some modifications is going to work out in my favour. Awaiting a friend to repair the armature and then I can dial in the belt alignment. In my opinion the generator fits the look better than the alternator.

I still think it would look better with a chrome fan and pulley!

  5. Finished the install and wiring to follow. Also covered up the advertising on the carbs until I get a chance to remove the drive rivets. IMG_9481.jpeg IMG_9480.jpeg IMG_9479.jpeg IMG_9482.jpeg

  6. Wiring is done. Lots of hours under the dash to get to this point. Managed to get the Signalstat 800 working as well IMG_4654.png IMG_4658.jpeg . Would have fired it up this week except the water pump is leaking and now awaiting a gasket.

  7. Finished the install on the Cable X speedometer drive. It is converting the VSS signal from the Tremec TKO 600 to the mechanical 1934 Buick speedometer. The space to connect the cable to the transmission was limited. It would have required an angle drive plus the right gear for tire size and rear diff ratio. This makes it so much easier.

  8. I didn’t want to run a front plate but our province says different. The bracket is another piece that Henry made for 1932.

Looking good and sounds great. Have followed since day 1. Envious of your Nailhead , mine has lots of solid lifter noise. Do have a set of adjustable push-rods but just haven't gone there yet.

  11. Thanks and a new engine for me.

  12. Dialed in the alignment on the Vicky this evening. Ordered these online from offshore and they sure make it easy. I am sure there are simpler old school ways but this was vey accurate and easy.

  13. I installed a 1934 Buick instrument panel, gages and a 3 window dash in the Vicky. The speedo was a bit of a challenge for several reasons, the cable end at the speedo is not like anything I had seen plus it’s mechanical. Utilizing a cable at the transmission was difficult due to interference with the exhaust. My solution was the use a Cable X system which converts an electronic signal via the VSS on the Tremec TKO 600 through a motor in the box. With the use of dip switches, calculating wheel diameter, rear differential ratio and pulses from the transmission a chart is used to determine position of the switches. It took me several attempts to get it right but it is bang on. Cannot hear anything under the seat coming from the box.

  18. A better pic of the 34 Buick instruments and panel. Bonus that all gauges work. It was a bit of a challenge but got the Airguide tach working as well. Need to deal with the poor illumination of the gauges at night. IMG_4873.jpeg

  19. The 3 window dash in my Vicky needed a glovebox and the Brookville version wasn’t in my budget or an original. Charlie’s Rods & Customs Speed Shop on Vancouver Island made one. Very impressed with the results

  20. Door panels fabricated and installed in the Vicky. Just to be different, they are aluminum. att.JwGcNAOpS8Vb1rOjurYqlofx0Hg2UEa5qXvNcFU2Qn0.jpeg

  21. 56 more days until we take the Vicky to Victoria BC for Deuce Days.
Sorting through small issues and making progress. The nailhead was idling high, 900-1000 rpm and I read that it should be 750. After lots of research I figured out that the distributor vacuum advance was on the wrong carb as well as the wrong port. Idle is now where it should be and have 2 spacers on order to address the dreaded Edelbrock heat sync issue.

@deucepickup32 can you explain the "dreaded Edelbrock heat sync issue" I am having hot start problems with my 401 nailhead but am running 97 carbs on an Offy tri-carb manifold.
Also did you ever sort out what bellhousing/adapter you are running?

Nice Vic you have, I've an oversize soft spot in my head for the uncommon, yet highly sought after body types.

  27. The heat sync issues I read about are with the 4 barrel carbs and haven’t read anything regarding 97’s. A friend has 2 Carter 4 barrels on a Y block with no issues.
The car had the nailhead Tremec TKO 600 combo in it when I got it. Bell housing is from Centerville Auto Repair in California. They specialize in nailhead parts.

  28. Thanks. New Venue starts on May 28th at KMS tools

  29. Thanks. To be honest it would not have been a car I would have chosen to build from the ground up. It literally materialized out of nowhere and was not advertised for sale when I bought it. It has grown on me over the past 14 months that I have had it.
