Low life scumbags suck, I'll keep my eyes open and let you know if I see an ad for an H&C magneto.

The sad part is they probably have no idea what they stole.

This. For some reason this part bothers me the most. Odds are, they opened the shoebox it was shipped in, didn't recognize it for anything, and threw it away - lost forever.

I'm pissed for sure, but mostly I'm just sad.

  6. Well shit! That Low life deserves a dragging down a gravel road behind a pickup!
I would have a hard time forgiving and forgetting that.
    But I’m old and crotchety.

I'm sure it doesn't need to be said, but quiet country road, took everything, this isn't some interstate shithead, this is LOCAL. Put up WANTED flyers at the local eatery, the post office, and parts stores.
Turn up the heat, make sure everyone knows this stuff is hot. It could end up hidden or trashed, but it's already gone at this point.

Honestly, it’s probably just some local kids—bored, dumb, and out too late. Our mailboxes are easy pickings: tucked into a dark corner with no direct line of sight from any nearby house. Usually, I check the mail at night, but that day I had too much going on, didn’t realize the package had landed, and figured I’d swing by in the morning.

    Too late.

We’ve beefed up security since—cameras, locks, the whole paranoid package—but yeah, damage done.

I’ve plastered photos of the magneto all over every neighborhood app I can find. Hoping maybe some parent stumbles across it in a trash can and connects the dots. I even tossed out a heavy reward.

But if we’re being real… that mag’s probably long gone.

Does anyone have a camera pointed at the mail boxes?
Would be nice to catch the scum bucket and find the mag.
Not sure if shock therapy cures thievery but strapping this dip shit down hooking the HT leads to various anatomy parts and spinning said mag with a drill at few hundred RPM might make him rethink his occupation!

If we did, I probably wouldn't be posting this.

We do now... and it took some serious tech to make it happen.

Yep I figured as much but ya know the dummy has to ask the dumb question.
I sure hope you find the magneto.

Postal Police are supposed to be a step up from the IRS in 'don't want them on my tail'.

The reward and threat of bringing out the big guns in X days might shake the branches.
Talk to the local high school coaches if it feels like kids. There's no better conduit to the youth grapevine in many cases.

That’s a right fucker, if there’s a parking lot or something local where people dump rubbish it might be worth checking.
Years ago we had a truck stolen from work the police found it, stripped, a couple of months later but they’d just left the two Leica theodolites in the back that were worth £20k a piece.

I've been on the losing side of over night visitors way too many times.
Never tho, were precious gems, like that, involved. 2 times an innocent messenger offered
recovery for a fee. I would not recognize or entertain any such transaction
    This loss can't be tolerated.
If you are correct about local youthful involvement, perhaps a reward offer might work.
Best of luck, May you have the dream you wish.
We all want you to travel in style.
BTW and Jussayin' Mrs does lots of business, and for years now has sworn off USPS::mad:
FedEx or UPS only. ( and yea cameras atound ) This here is considered rural country

Seems like every time that the movie Stand By Me gets shown on the local cable channel or Netflix some of the bored, dumb, and out too late local knuckle heads decide to play mail box baseball on my street. Most have all been converted to brick or block encased boxes as a result.

Damn, that fucking sucks....as you said, probably some kids out "screwing around" (hey, I did a lot in junior high and high school I wouldn't be proud to share here), and have no idea what they got. I'm sure you've done this already, but check the ditches on the way back to town and also past your mailboxes down the road further, they might have kept on driving down the road fucking around some more...... Depending on how far they got before they opened it and had no idea what it is, might have just chucked it out the window as they went. Hope it all ends up alright, Ryan.

Man, I feel for you. I hope some how with luck - it's found.
Anything of significant value - is pick up only at the Post Office for me.
Wife is home most days and I make sure with tracking coordinate so she is home to receive.

SUX for sure!!! I have my stuff sent to my p.o. box unless it's too big. Yeah I ponied up the USPS rent which just went up again but all my bills and SSA stuff goes there to keep private stuff private. When the mrs and I were working, if something came UPS or FEDEX I would always have it left at the depot and pick it up after work. That avoids the porch pirates! At the new place we are 200' off the road and we're both home or have the tracking to keep us informed. Like everyone says it's probably a goner because they had no clue what it was. May you get lucky and find it in the ditch next to the road.

this was my first thought. A lot of the time porch pirates can’t wait even two blocks to tear into that box. There’s a decent chance it’s laying in the crash fairly close. Some one hitting mail boxes doesn’t seem like someone bothering to hit a scrap metal place or pawn shop

I hope you figure it out somehow. If you do, let the cops take care of it.

Porch Pirates like small boxes, like the size a new Iphone comes in. Pack small items in big boxes can deter them, plus they are harder to run away with. I live in a very secure, gated subdivision, I still lost a box off the front porch. Cameras caught him with his hoody pulled down tight grabbing a box of candy canes Mrs BB ordered for the tree last Xmas. Iphones and mags are worth a lot more than some candy, but I do hope his last 2 teeth rotted out.

Dang that sucks but I rather have to agree that somewhere close by there is a pile of mail that has been rifled through and what they didn't think any value to sell somewhere is in the pile.

A few years back I had 6 packages stolen out of my mailbox at one time by two people in a car that were following the mailman around his route robbing mailboxes. My neighbor spotted them one day and chased them for a ways and that put a stop to it but we used to have people raiding mailboxes when the tribe sent out per capita checks each month when they mailed them the same day but now they mix up the days they get sent. That is money the casino and sawmill earn and gets paid to tribal members as a stock dividend would and not a handout.

Look for it on eBay. With eBay, Google and other picture search capabilities thieves can easily determine what an object is and its value. The stupid ones will try to sell there although it would be very hard to prove if item was stolen or how seller obtained it.

We have a lot of grandchildren and my wife sends out a lot of greeting cards for birthdays and other occasions and some never arrive. My theory is the color and size of the envelopes alert postal workers and thieves there may be checks or gift cards inside. Pretty easy to bend an envelope in a few places to determine if there is a gift card rather then a check inside. We no longer send gift cards. Have had greeting cards never show up or look tampered with on arrival several times. Maybe just coincidence.

So sorry that happened to you, not you fault so don't beat yourself up. I hope you get the mag back and the bastards that stole it die a horrible death, but you are correct they didn't know what they have taken.
