Very Nice!! I had a31 pontiac sedan that I changed alot of the wood
in the body to steel! I also took 2 inches out of the roof! after having a garage fire, i made it into a sedan delivery! I did it in the 80s! Car still lives in Fla today!
It has a slant 6 turbo charged! I will try to dig out some photos!

this car has been planned and executed perfectly .

everything is thought out and simply does it’s job functionally and with style .

you have made this car your own , while sticking to a traditional hot rod recipe .

I received the new gas tank and even though the dimensions matched my original tank it didn’t fit exactly the same way. The upper tank supports on the frame had to be trimmed and reshaped and the filler stub did not line up with the original hole in the tank cover.
With the new tank mounted, my brother relocated the hole in the tank cover.

 

Did not want to weld shut the holes for the fender bolts so I made covers with studs on the back to hold them on.
I also built a battery cover after deciding on a shape using cardboard.

 

A “new” old coolant overflow bottle was added and my son-in-law spent a lot of time over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays getting the wiring pretty much completed, including the interior and dash lighting.

 

So, thats what perfection looks like

 

Where did you get your air cleaners? Are they 5 1/8” or 4 7/32”
The car is just amazing….

 

Air cleaners are (were) 4 7/32” reproduction Corvette and SD Pontiac. Carbs are Carter 500s which are 5 1/8”, so my brother trimmed the bases larger and made aluminum spacers to match the carbs. Not sure, but I don’t think anyone makes that air cleaner to fit the larger carbs.

 

Nice job on the adapters! I just need to loosen up my wallet and buy those air cleaners.

What is that coolant overflow bottle from? I like the look! What is the approximate size?

 

The overflow bottle is 11” tall ( to the top of the cap) and 4 1/2” diameter. My brother found it at an estate sale. Here is a picture of the return address and the only paperwork in the box. I have never seen another one and couldn’t find anything else about it. Maybe someone else on here knows more.

All of the glass is cut (I chose the old green “E-Z Eye” tint) and all but the windshield are installed along with the garnish moldings

 

Clean , well thought out project. Looks great

 

I used a Mini ( early 1960s ) oil cooler for a transmission fluid cooler and coated the floor and firewall with 3 coats of ATAC paint from DEI. With the body removed from the frame I made heat shields from embossed aluminum to further keep exhaust heat from reaching the interior. Disassembly continues to prep the frame and then the body for paint.

 

Those embossed panels are clever!

 

After adapting a rotisserie designed for a vintage Mini to hold my frame and taking care of some last minute welding, we began the process of filling , sanding, filling, sanding, priming, sanding, priming, and more sanding. Finally it was time to paint.

That chassis with that colour paint has turned out really nice !
Looking forward to seeing the body painted now.

 

This project is the pinnacle of hotrodding. Brilliantly, creatively, aesthetically pleasing and the craftsmanship is impeccable. If it was a roadster it easily could outclass many of the AMBR contestants. It is art, pure and simple.

 

Off of the rotisserie and back on 4 wheels.
