Thoughts on how helpful a sway bar, anti roll bar whatever you want to call it, is on a 38 Chevy with original axle dropped 3". Probably will be radial tires

They are used in solid axle rears .Don't see why it would not work as long as the frame is strong

Thank ypu for the post @Joe H I am assuming the pick up is the same as the passenger car? Secondly where did you get the shock mounts for the front?

I recently put one under the front of my '46 Ford pickup. Like night and day difference! No more wallowing and tracks great. I highly recommend one.

  7. Do it. A sway bar is a good upgrade to the front end of any ride. I put one on my 39 Ford (straight axle) and it was a different car. Of course transverse axle Fords benefit a little more than parallel leaf Chevys.

Front was CJ rear was late 70s TBird on the 37 Chebbie . Both fit as if they were made to be used on the 37

The front shock mounts on my axle were on it when I pulled out of a fence row, I beleive they be stock lower mounts, the uppers were also on it, they are just so 1/4 or 3/8" steel plate bent and welded to the frame. They fit behind the inner fenders and didn't look to bad so I left them. The shocks are fairly short so I didn't have a lot to choose from, these I think are Ford Pinto rears.
I had stock '37 bar off a carry-all or suburban type car/truck, it was really small diameter and used some hard to find links on the ends, I sold it and bought the later truck unit.

I like rear swaybars on cars/trucks with parallel leaf spring solid front axles, but never found a need for a front swaybar on them. I just felt it cluttered up the clean front setup, and even if it improved handling I'd likely not add one for my cars.

Never saw stock 39 front axle and such . It’s different than 37-38s I have tinkered with . No tube shocks on earlier or sway bar , the reminder looks dead on

They came on the commercial vehicles, Carry-all/Suburban types.

1939 Chev didn't have tube shocks, they had knee action shocks. The axle shown is modified to add tube shocks.

Sorry but Chevrolet and I respectfully disagree, every beam axle 39 I've been around had them.
From the 39 service manual and other literature-
