  1. What did you do for exhaust? Ive tried rear nad mid dumo manifolds and headers. No luck. Everything hits the steering. Anything outside of fenderwell headers that works?

I’ve seen shorty rear dump headers flipped like Anthony did with the manifold too

  4. The port size is smaller on the 55/56 ones so I hogged mine out.
I’ve kicked around building a set of tube ones with the proper flange and larger outlet.

  5. Headers that wrap forward of the steering are pretty easy to build; but a 265 manifold in the previous post is easier still.

  6. How about 1974-ish Chevelle manifolds? They dump out the back.

I've known a '40 Ford P.U. truck, built by a member of the Draggin' Derbys hot rod club... He used a pair of Hedman Headers; turned them "upside-down" ... then slotted the hood, wide enough to clear the collectors____ ! :D

I used headers from Sanderson PN CC4, the drivers side exits toward the front to clear the steering box. Also, an exhaust manifold from a 1967-69 Chevrolet pick up, passenger side flipped to the drivers side will work. You will need to get creative with your bends around and under the steering box and if you can TIG weld it would really help.

It looks as though you have some room between the cab and the trans. Would raising the engine/trans slightly provide enough clearance. You can also move the engine/trans slightly off center (but still parallel to frame) to gain a little room. Maybe a little of both. Might also look at some tight tuck headers for an S10.

On 35-40 Fords Chassis engineering recommended using a manifold from 67-72 Chevy pickup. They’re rams horn but the outlet is angled forward. Not sure if it was a right or left manifold.

  11. I was going to recommend the R/H Chevy truck manifold being mentioned; but from the straight on side view in the original post it appears his engine is mounted too far back for it to work. If you look at the locations of the center mount bolt holes in his and the bolt holes in this picture you can see what I was thinking. Guess I could be looking at it wrong too. Wouldn't hurt to try; truck manifolds are pretty common.

Straight down ram horns with a very quick turn towards the front of the car in the head pipe
