The longer the ramps , the shallower the "dovetail" angle. [look at the photo in post #10]
The dovetail is only needed if you had limited tilt angle. My trailer tilts on the rocker equalizer suspension [which I tweeked for more tilt angle]
I spent a bit of time figuring the angles ,then tested it by "chalking a profile" on my garage floor.[with a string line]

If you look closely at the photo in post #10, the dovetail becomes an extension of the ramps [both are at the same angle when extended/tilted]
My ramp length was the limiting factor [they stop 12mm short of the rear axle]

The ramps are actually free standing [below] and work just like garage ramps. I spent a lot of time tapering the ends [which isn't needed at all]

Because ramps are free standing ,the trailer deck load bears weight onto the ramps [not the ramps hanging off the trailer]
This allowed me to "thin" the end of the deck which sits on top of the ramps

    The step is minimal [15mm]

  2. My issue is the chin wants to hit the ramps before the tires do, like I mentioned I had the tongue jacked up to lesson the angle of the ramps.
Longer ramps would be my solution but I'll stand by my comment that I would get a tilt if I was buying today.

With the help of Ryan I was able to list my trailer in the classifieds and sold it within an hour. All I wanted was $1000 to get it out of my way:) IMG_3210.jpeg IMG_3206.jpeg IMG_3208.jpeg

P1030245.jpg That's neat looking trailer, how long was it? IMHO you didn't sell it you gave it away. I just sold mine last night if I'd seen this I'd have made a trip to Memphis

It was 16’ and yeah I know I gave it away but I needed it out of the way and told Ryan that I wanted to help one of our members out that might be needing a trailer. I have receipts for over $6K on it.

I rent a trailer when needed,,,about every 5 or 10 years…,most recent was local so a deck truck hauled it home…the rest were 800 to 1600 mile road trips… IMG_2362.jpeg
