As long as you enjoy your car who really cares what other people think of your car. I think it is super cool and guess most of the people on this forum do as well.

Post your location so members know where to recommend events that you'd be welcome to and appreciated.

Who cares if it matters to other people? It matters to you! If you're only driving it to get admiration from others, you're doing it wrong.

    Welcome.

Well, we do it to please ourselves, but it's nice when other people like it and it's not so nice when they don't.

Your Magoo tub matters a lot. Beautiful car. Lots of history. Take it to real hot rod shows where people know and like it. Coming here is a good first step.

    We understand real good.

    Post some more pictures!

Neat car and like others have said, who cares what other people think? I don't go to any of my local coffee shop parking lot BS "meets" for that reason, it' just a bunch of yokels with laminated window stickers in their new Corvettes, and tuner cars. Not my thing, so I'm happy to just drive the hell out of my cars and enjoy them.

I also think it's just a sign of the times. There isn't a gigantic following for these really specific cars anymore. A great example of this: A friend and I have several booths at the Portland Swap Meet. He brought a clapped-out 1969 Nova project to sell. No motor, no trans, different colored fenders, stripped interior, etc. It was parked at the corner of our booths. On Saturday, we both drove hot rods in, just for fun. He took a gorgeous '32 Sedan with a hammered stance and just the right look. I drove a similarly set up '32 3 Window. We parked them next to the Nova and all day long, watched as people FLOCKED to that clunker, walking right past two nicely set up '32 Ford hot rods to get to it, without so much as a second glance. With very few exceptions, nobody really said anything about the hot rods and wanted to talk about the Nova instead. We got a kick out of that all day. That said, I think it's just the way it is now.

Super cool car, just drive it and enjoy it!

  7. That's a great car with heritage. Enjoy it for what it is and pay no attention to those who don't understand.

That car must have mattered to you or you would not have bought it. If trophies or accolades are the end result you desire, you might be in the wrong place here. I wouldn’t give a shit what other people thought of the car or if they stopped to look at it as long as I was happy with it and enjoyed driving it. That phaeton is TITS. Gorgeous car, respected builder, well cared for through the years, what more could you ask for? If no one else gets it, WE DO!!!!

This reminds me of a first time post from someone a few years ago who inherited the Tom Pruffer track roadster from his Uncle.

..wanted to know what we all thought about it but never responded after his first post!

    WEIRD.

I only hope there is opportunity for those of us that truly Pine for these cars because we love them soo much.

I had also noticed that @Steve Schilling hasn’t been back (yet), but I did get a chuckle out of the irony of the second post from the link you posted above !

I would never see your car, because I don't go to Camaro and Mustang type events. Beautiful car.

Your Tub is a great rod, I remember seeing it frequently when Mickey drove it. Magoos built cars were built to drive, reliable and simple but detailed.
Those LS motored cars, pro mod, etc will diminish like most trends. Your A is a Classic Hot Rod!!

  15. Of course it matters, but to the right people. The ones that make me not want to go to ''anything goes shows'' are the bling, LS and silly wheel/tires guys that stroke each others ego's. JW

    Hello,

It should not matter if one walks by such a cool Phaeton. It was seen. Those cars and coffee places are for folks that know almost nothing about hot rod history, other than spend money on the latest sporty car or Detroit cars that are loud and noisy. No taste in history or hot rods. For the 500 cars in those weekend cars and coffee events, there are only a few hot rods and those are the ones that stick out for everyone.

You should be proud of the historic hot rod you have. If you think it does not fit, no need to go to those gatherings. But, that is your choice. Just go and enjoy. If not, then don’t go to those shows. No need to worry about the amount of “looks” you get, remember, hot rods at those gatherings are a low number, so it is no big deal. It is as if you worry about the “likes” you get on a topic for the HAMB.

The Phaeton is one that we saw and thought we would enjoy cruising around in it. When our 327 powered 40 Ford Sedan Delivery was finally finished in the repair/replace mode, my wife was the first to get in the seat for her errands or visits to friends.

She did not care who saw her, although there were plenty of folks staring at her driving the sedan delivery.

These days, my wife likes to cruise around in her own car if she is driving on errands/visits to friends and we both enjoy going to the coastal cruises we take weekly. Nothing better than the ocean influence to set the world on the right direction. Enjoy your cool Phaeton and don’t think about the attraction. It comes naturally for all.

The smile on your face proves it is all worthwhile. YRMV

Model Ts, stock and hotrodded, seem to be out of favor. At Pate, second largest swap meet in America, there was not even one stock Model T last year
