New Towel City Cheater slicks arrive tomorrow. Right door is almost ready to hang. Latch and handle were a challenge. Had to install a 1/2"x1/2" aluminum angle to stiffen the inside panel.
    Worked great!! PXL_20250515_213624963.jpg PXL_20250515_213630446.jpg

Got them mounted. A guy at the tire store has a drag Nova. Gave him the old slicks. Stabbed one on. I like it!! PXL_20250519_181554622.jpg PXL_20250519_181601976.jpg

Yeah, that's a great tire. You will like the way they ride and perform. I have zero complaints with mine. I guess if I got real damn picky, I would like the side walls polished. They are kind of grooved and don't look bad but If I had a preference, I would like them polished. I have done some tire de-lettering and polishing but not on that sort of surface. I could mess them up irreparably, so they are best left be. Nice choice on rubber.

Thanks! I plan on polishing my side walls. Starting with the inside first, just in case! I have a feeling the outer sidewall is ground in case you opt for a white wall. I was debating spinning the rear at idle, while lightly hitting the surface with my DA sander, starting with 220 grit and work my way up. Stay tuned!!

I'll be watching. Smart idea starting with the inside. I think this will really make them look sharp. I lubricated the sandpaper with armor all instead of water. Not sure if that helped but in my mind it did.

I will try that armor all, water, wd40. Different grits sandpaper. Maybe a sanding block instead of a DA.

Anybody running these towel city 1000x15 cheaters have any pressure recommendations?

You will have to experiment with the weight of the car, ride desired and usage. I am down to 25 PSI. They have a stiff sidewall, they don't need a lot of air. But due to the stiff sidewall, you need to be vigilant about pressure. I had one with a hole in it and almost zero pressure that was barely noticeable from mere observation. Local tire shop had no issue repairing it BTW.

Thanks, gives me a place to start. Good tip on the pressure check interval. I haven't had the car on scales yet, but I think I shouldn't wait too long.

Tire balancing day, fun leveled the fixture. Fun, then level the base. Place the weighs, stick them on check the balance, clean them up, and put them on. Test drive soon. PXL_20250523_180717489.jpg PXL_20250523_180721628.jpg

Well found another screwed up body detail. Check out the rear vertical post width at the top and bottom. No big deal, 10 minutes with a jigsaw, a piece of duct tape, some resin with some glass fibers and some finish bodywork and away we go. That's what a cheap body kit is like. Good I am not bad at fiberglass! PXL_20250601_000112948.jpg PXL_20250601_000124074.jpg

Going to hang the right door tomorrow. Finished up all structural glass work and a little body work. Primed it, have the latch and handles ready to go too. PXL_20250608_001025984.jpg

Got the door hung, working on latch install, handles and b pillar latch catch. Got all four tires and wheels balanced and installed. Ready for a test drive!! Really like the new cheaters! PXL_20250622_030531543.jpg PXL_20250622_030546071.MP.jpg PXL_20250622_030554223.jpg

Those are fatties! And you know what to do with fatties...Roll 'em up and burn 'em down.
I am biased but I like that look! I forget, did you say you were going to have a go at polishing those sidewalls? I am really looking forward to watching that.

Got the original 32 Ford door latches mounted and operating, lower upholstery tack strips fit. Next window runs and regulators. Handle out side is repro, but looks great. Looks OK for fiberglass . PXL_20250705_145931030.jpg PXL_20250705_145950097.jpg

    Looks great!
Can't win with a repop handle on a 'glass body :), the henry guys would say the OG handles should be saved for 'real' cars! Do the best you can and enjoy.
There's a reason companies developed a business plan, invested and produced replica bodys. There was a market demand that exceeded supply. The repop parts would not be as viable if there was only Henry steel.
The next step in that argument is that OE high point restored is the only proper way to revere the design. Gatekeeping! I think the HAMB group would be unhappy with that line in the sand.

Reinforced latch area, glassed it in. Shaped it and a coat of primer. Swung the door and it latched perfectly. Some days all goes well!! PXL_20250713_031735858.jpg
