Where is the 1935-1936 ford dash install in a model A thread? I know I've seen someone on here do it. I just wanted to check it out before I start cutting. Any help would be great.

After reading it, that is not the one. In the one I am looking for he cuts the top ears off and moves them to the bottom.

Don't think I've seen the thread you are looking for but here is a '36 dash I recently cut down for my current build. Somewhere I have some pics of it as I was putting it together. If I find can find them I'll post for you.

Mine is built over a Model A dash rail and bolts on at the stock locations. That way I didn't have to weld to or modify the body.

I found a bunch of pics. Here's the first batch...

    a few more...

You'll notice that some of these pics have the 'horns' in the corners that I reshaped from the original ones on the '36 dash. After I got it done I decided that I didn't like them so I cut them off and reshaped the corners. (per my pics in post #6 above) I like it much better without.

Look at Mr. Ford's car. He just trimmed the sides, not much either.

    Last batch of pics...

Let me know if you have any questions about any of them. It was my first attempt at cutting one up and I really kind of made it up as I went but it turned out pretty nice.

So is it a complete bolt in?

Yep. Uses the 1/4-20 bolt locations that the original model A dash rail used.

Thanks for the info, your install is really good. I was kinda thinking of something similar, but using the stock dash rail with it never occurred to me. I like how it extends the top of the dash with the top part of the old one.

No problem. Hope it helps. I'll be checking in on your build thread to see how your dash turns out. Your coupe is coming along great by the way.

Here is the '36 dash in my coupe. It is solid welded in and fitted tight to the cowl. I then set up the perimeter around the windshield so the glass could installed with no frame. Makes the opening a bit larger with a chopped top.

My son fitted one to his 28 , a bit of slicing and dicing. What we didn’t allow for was the window regulator hitting the dash. Thankfully ford had allowed for this and with some manipulation the window regulator mount holes and the door remote hole were exactly the same and we were able to transpose the by a stroke of luck and small metal shaping internally reshaping the remote arm and adding a return spring. remaking the ears was a little more tricky to get it fitting close to perfect.
