    Kevin, we're in Melbourne.

Rural Victoria is suffering from a drought.

It really hasn't rained here for some time. I had the coupe out on Sunday to run a few errands. Loaded it up after a trip to the hardware store. And yes, stuff was poking out under the deck lid.

Hope to get some hot rod time in the next few weeks to do some jobs on it.

If only I could remove the top hinge pin!! Tried 2 different hinge pin removers - next will be drilling it out, and we all know how dangerous that is on a painted car

Here's a few photos of a trip I took through Utah with the hooligans in hot rods on the highways gang.. Price Utah to Bryce Canyon, Kodachrome Basin, Escalante, Capitol Reef and Goblin Valley.. 550 or so miles in three days. Epic trip in an open car.. I even passed a flathead v8 going up a mountain pass! Winfield head, insert A block, B type distributor, burns intake with dual 81's and yapp headers, v8 trans and a 101 quickchange rear end, 4:11 gears image3.jpeg image6.jpeg image8.jpeg image0.jpeg image5.jpeg image7.jpeg image3(1).jpeg image2(1).jpeg

I recently have discovered some photos of a Green Engine Works conversion for a Frontenac SR.
What is known about Pop Green/ Green Engine works?

Here's a rather odd looking Green DOHC for a Model A block. IMG7146.jpeg

I once owned a Green DOHC head with all the correct & needed accessories.
It was an 8 valve head with Huge intake and exhaust ports ! I bought this from a collector guy in the Denver area around 1972, sold it in the early 80s along with my Riley 4 port race car. All the gears used in tower were straight cut, there was a provision for a water pump at the bottom of the drivers side of the gear tower and a provision for a magneto on the passengers side - traditional location.
The intake manifold was a typical log design with flanges for side draft Winfield carbs. The exhaust manifold was somewhat crude compared to the rest of the items, probably from multiple times being poorly repaired. If there's anything else you want to ask, please feel free to .

  22. Badass! That's the second piece, it also had a side cover to match as well (photo is not mine unfortunately). Im curious the timeline of these, also pictured is Jim Brierly in '76 with his cook overhead 470180958_18477893203024628_3307706857936133665_n.jpg 64crump_1684169215_3103358763393187235_3206994851.png

I’m curious - does anyone have any pictures or statistics on a Cyclone head?

combustion chamber design, compression ratio, performance comparison with say a Winifred 7:1 head, or any other measurements?

moving right along ..... could a banger transmission be adapted to a column shift?

i vaguely remember my 1968 Peugeot 404 had a 4 speed column shift. didn't help when i rolled it, but i can't blame the car for that.

I think the easiest way would be to use a Banger-to-V8-trans adapter and use a '40-'48 transmission instead of the more typical '32-'39.

In fact, I think there was a car set up exactly that way, column shifter and all, in Hop Up about 25 years ago.

  29. According to Jim Brierly, "Cook" aka Cyclone heads were made by the Cook machine shop just East of L.A. They made 104 of them. They were made in the late 30's for racing, and had no water pump boss or distributor opening. They ran great on gasoline but needed work to make them run good on fuel, because of the cartridge fire plug location.

Jim ran a Cook head turbocharged on alcohol at Bonneville in 2013 and went 167. [IMG]

66 years ago, I put a Cyclone head on my cut-down Model A pickup. Couldn't get it started with the starter. Pushed it a bit, lit it off, it ran for about 5 seconds and quit. Opened it up and found the N. 4 piston would not go up and down. (My fault.)

Couple years later had a Cyclone quick-change. Borrowed a set of 4.44 gears to go racing, broke the back plate. My fault again. The narrow gears were for a T. But I got a little look at the dark and dusty Cook Machine Co. Picked up the cracked back cover replacement and wondered why the six bolt holes for the studs in the housing go thru the outside a little. "You get to drill your own." That's how the original one was set up by the original owner.
