My dad and I are hot rodding a '35 Auburn Phaeton. The car is all stock minus the engine and trans that were pulled in the 50's and replaced with a caddy. We are leaving it stock in appearance-, but dropping it on the deck with the stock Kelsey wheels. Power will be a supercharged late engine with pipe on both sides of the hood instead of just one.

    I'd ditch the horns!

Nice, nice, automobile. Man, and to think of all the Auburns that were bought just for their dash and then s****ped.....

It would be like burning cash to do much to this car. Now if a shell was found, lots could be done.

  5. You do not do anything to an Auburn. Do you know why? BECAUSE ITS AN AUBURN! Hot rodding a Caddy or a Chevy is different. These cars are like ***holes, everyone has one. A complete Auburn such as this deserves nothing more except bias-ply tires. THAT'S IT! Leave the damn thing alone and go buy a Lincoln to mess up.

Are you buying the car or are you just curious as to what people think about an Auburn Cabriolet?

Aw come on it's "A steal at $129,500.00". With such a low price I don't see why he couldn't make a hot rod out of it. As a matter of fact, this original post is over a year old, but the link still works and tha car is still for sale. Might go down on his price.

I had my eye (but not my wallet) on a hotrodded '31ish Auburn roadster that must have been done in the later '50's. Channelled but full fendered, with a mid '50's Cadillac undr the hood. Sure would like to own that one.

They're ok. I find the generation before it to be a much better looking car. Sure it didn't have the supercharged 8, but it's soooo much better looking. IMO.

There was one of these (originally non-supercharged - they came both ways) on ebay a month or two back. It was missing the original engine. I would have been interested since I happen to have an engine:

but it would only have made sense for me if it was an original blower car. These cars are pretty cool, the two speed rear end can be shifted while you are moving and makes highway driving pretty enjoyable. The blown cars have pretty good pep. I have a picture of one of these from the 50s that had been customized. I'll dig it up and post it here.

Nice car ... It has a 'Ford-esque' feel to it.
