In honor of the Custom Car Revival this weekend, let’s discuss a how to, on radiusing hood corners etc. I get the general idea, but I would like to see the underside of the hood and the inner fenders. Just wondering how these get finished out.
Well I have to say that the fit and finish on Moriarity's Chevy is a lot higher than I did on my 61 Merc where I used metal strips to finish off the corners of the hood and the fender/grill surround and used the piece I cut off the hood as the filler on the fender. I'd put a lot more effort into it now than I did then though. I used an old worn chop saw disk for the radius and a saber saw to cut them.
I have always wondered if most guys only finished the top side of the mod and figured customs are a “hood down” car.
Interesting, I was just pondering this deal as my brother the metal man is here shaving emblems & doing his thing on our 52.
