put an ad on Craigslist looking for another pumpkin. had 2 guys call with 3.55 open rears. nothing fancy, just a good used pumkin with nothing rebuilt or replaced. they wanted $275.00 and $250.00.

sadly, I'm stuck in the 70's where I would go to the junkyard and get a 10 bolt posi for my GTO for $100.00. I didn't think they'd be that much. I will have to wait.

I saw that my gears are 2.73, not 2.93. what a slug this car is. forget about any type of accelleration in 3rd gear out on the freeway. much of my commute I don't even get into 3rd.

    ...14 years later...
You could swap the ****** for a Richmond Super T-10Z
    Gears are 3.42/2.28/1.47/1.00
With a 2.73 rear end that would give you about 9.34:1 out of hole and it would still cruise the freeway nicely.
Of course that's quite a bit money to get one (unless you were lucky enough to find a deal on a used one), and the driveshaft would probably have to be shortened, but the would take off a little more smartly than what you have now.
If you went with the 3.55 rear and and the 833 4-spd OD, you'd realize almost 11:1 out of the hole and 2:59:1 on the high end, but now you're changing out the ******, the rear end AND you'd still need to shorten the driveshaft.

...now go ahead and let me know that you sold the car in 2012 and all of this is irrelevant anymore. =)
