Hello to Everybody! I need help! Guidance, advice, experience, opinions, e.t.c. I have owned a '59 Apache for 6 or 7 years. I haven't touched it the last two. Wifey said sell it. Son said sell it. I have too many projects! Reluctantly, I put it on CL. I had a call, a guy wanted to see it. So I dragged it out and washed it. Pulled the carb and cleaned it. Dumped a little gas down the throat and hit the ****on, and she fired right off! 283, mild calm, intake, 4 bbl, duals and turbos... my God, she sounds so good! I left her in the driveway for wifey to see when she got home, and she's asking what's it going to take to finish her? I know what I want, but no idea how to get there. I have read many forum entries from this site over the years for all kinds of things. Primarily, my background is in Jeep CJs. I'm no mechanic, all self-taught, I've done a few frame off rebuilds, never rebuilt an engine or transmission, although I have rebuilt one rear end. I hope you folks will help me finally get into this amazing truck. Thanks in advance. Scott
Why rebuild the engine? It starts, it runs. Drive it and enjoy. Also, welcome to the HAMB from Illinois.
I agree with pprather, DRIVE IT. This will give you time to enjoy the Apache as well as a chance to get a 'feel' for which direction to take this project. I also agree with his welcome to the HAMB from Illinois.
Thank you, Gentlemen. Appreciate the warm welcome. Should I continue discussing my truck here, or should I start a thread on the appropriate forum? There's a LOT to discuss!
