V8-60 Tube Axle and Split Wishbones: bad idea...or it'll be fine?

    Someone mentioned sprint cars in connection with this discussion.
    Sprint cars (older ones) used split radius rods for several reasons.
    The wheel base could be adjusted to different values on each side EASILY.
    Weight could be jacked into the chassis (frame twist).
    Caster could be set different on each side (front) with a split axle.
    Caster could be changed easily for pavement and dirt tracks.
    REMEMBER, these cars only turn left. They wanted the chassis to bind up.

    You can't make a setup like this handle good where you turn both directions.
    You CAN make a car handle exceptionally well by sticking to the basic original Ford design
    with a wishbone front AND rear.
    With wishbones front and rear the ride will be far better than with split rods on either or both.

    Pictured is the setup used on the NW hot rod road racing championship car in 1954.
