Love your work. Love look of that engine & blower. Dying to know if blower actually makes any boost. Wonder if any special first startup needed to get fuel to spark plugs with oil pressure in engine. Maybe a push start?

    Thank You.
Im not sure if supercharger is make any boost. Maybe little, but need to remember that supercharger is 90y old and maybe not small clearance between housing and wheel. I didnt measure it.
Very good, if has pressure --> Filling better cylinder when zero or little boost than vacuum. Im 100% sure, not in vacuum side..
When start up 1st time, I remove spark plugs, and start engine many times 5-10sec.
I want to be sure that oil pressure is come up. Flathead engine is easier than many other V8 engines. Flathead dont have valvetrain upstairs, so easy to get oil everywhere there.

Gasoline is easy to get to cylinders even its over 50cm (20") from carbs to combustion chamber.
    gravity and suction works fine.

Sunday, just worked few horus with Rod. We have cold weather here (not remember when we have had so cold and windy summer begining like this year), so I have time to built car.

Painted and installed starter, made plus and minus cables and installed those.
I also installed oil press tube and main switch

    Thank You.
Nothing special or show quality. I´m lucky that I have passion spend time in Garage.
Good thing is that Im interested in walk to the garage even know that next weeks is same "shit" (putty, welding, sanding,......) sometimes feels that "never get nothing ready" but I know that if keep just working, working and working, all projects are "jump" bigger steps foward some day... same method works with house rebuilding, new building, car rebuilding, hot rod works....

I have try to keep all simple. Not too big garage, then You cant keep there many projects same time. Only one project at time. While i need to rebuilt dailycars, other vehicles,... or just do houseworks, but only one project at time.
Before I had day or month when project need to be ready (some kind of ETA -day).
Now that is not possible because I have dayjob and coffee shop. Good thing is that Oskar is grow and he can help me here and there more and more. Even he has interest work and of course get little salary too.

Next Year I dont continue with coffee shop, I give it to Oskar´s mother.
Oskar is get Drag Race License (15y old) but cant drive faster than 12sec 1/4mile.
He asked that if he race in ProET (1965 GS Buick), I promised that he can drive as much he wants and Im there more chef (coffee, bbq,..) and push car in line up.

And next July we send this 5w coupe to EastCoast USA. New experiences to drive there 3weeks periods...

Today We started up engine few times. All works good.
Only problem is leaking fuel tank. There is 1-2mm hole near bottom plug.

I have built oil pressure system to M-36 McCulloch supercharger. Maybe it has been originally "oil filled"....
There is come in very smal oiltube. Today made empty tube which is little bigger. Im not sure is this OK system... I feel that its better that has engine oil pressure there. Supercharger has approx. 6.4:1 ratio, so it spin rather high rpm

Today had "offical 1hour garage cleaning", before continue rod works.
I changed motor oil. First I used basic 10w40 mineal oil. Good to use car painting filter when empty old oil.
Nothing big metal scrap or other stuff. Little metal colour, but that is normal when new just bored and honed engine.

Mobil 80w90 to tranny and rear axle.

I still wonder that +1mm hole in gas tank... Yesterday we empty (3gal) it and today I sand that area where hole is located. Didnt want to fill it up (water), I used Plastic padding fuel tank rebuilding stuff (2K). I hope it works.
I leave tank like that. Painted just that area, nothing more. I can repaint it after summer.

I got small shipment from company where I work. I sold myself few V-belts, O-rings, Pferd cut-off wheels.
This is best of best cutting wheel. (no grinding dust, long life disc......). I installed new BX-53 v-belts. I like more smooth belts, but this one works better.

Thanks. Brakes are model "kamikaze". Engine smokes, clutch shaking, oilpressure is low,.....

small problems , need to check one by one.
This engine shortblock has somebody made (machineryjobs) in North-Carolina (Concorde area). 59A block, Mercury crank (journals grinded to 2" and same time increased stroke to 4.125", eccentric grinding). I dont remember which rods are, I dont remember if I chech oilrings, bearing clearances.... I hope I did, but 6-7years gone and my good memory is very short. I have open intake and exhaust runners, made big valve seats, valves, cam, lifters.... Need to check also oilpress valve in block.

I was think that maybe wrong oil rings,.... but lets see. Also think that maybe this M-36 McCulloch is leak oil from mainbody (gear) to wheel/intake side. Maybe this 1st McCulloch is not like oilpressure. I have pressure there, but maybe need to just fill oil and leave breather bolt to supercharger snout. Need to find out. I have had M-40 McCullcoch (1939-1940) which worked fine. I built there oil pressure "net" like this one too. But this McCulloch is rather much different construction. If somebody has this kind on first edition McCulloch, can send me pics and info how they have done oil system. Pressure system or filled supercharger gear oil + breather.

Oil pressure is too low. Maybe pressure valve in block is not work....

Too much "blue" smoke when engine warm, after that spark plugs are not "clear" and I can hear that.
Little oil there makes own "tricks".

Problems are not down me to Depression.... Problems are result that You have done something and You need to fix those... If do nothing , no problems.

Good is that oil 2row pumps are not leaking. I have two pair, but that is rather big job to fix those if leaking.
Need to piece, machineryjobs, new "coal" seals, not easy to find those 2row pump bearings..... And many other good things.

Of course I have very much to do. Wirings, Top aluminum, A-pillar cover plates (inside) floor plates, trunk side panels, floor cover plate, speedo cable, chinese coated headers are leaking very strongly,...... but this summer we drive and next winter is more both hot rods maintenance. I hope I understand to keep one easier winter... Summer season is take so much my resources.... Next summer im out from coffee shop, that is sure.

Today Oskars confirmation in Nurmo Old church. Just bind him tie. He let me know yesterday that he wants to use tie.....

nb. Yes, no burnouts with those 32 rearaxles. My first rod 2005 I had 331cid early hemi + Muncie 20 + 1939 rear axle. I broken 3-4 shaft before I belived that burnout + 30´s rearaxle stuff are hate each other......
My grey 1932 5w coupe (409cid + Muncie 21 + 1939 rear axle with quick change and ford 9" axles) was OK, but still didnt have lock case there.... so maybe better leave race driving and keep rear axles driving condition.

Very NICE AULIZ!!!!!!! congrats on the drive.... jmo that low oil pressure is probably the line feeding the supercharger snout..i believe thats just a fill amount and run it...Theres no restriction with it plumbed that way that i see... may also fill too much and run inside the S/C...

Supercharger line is pleed so little. only approx. 1mm hole, there is come only very little oil.
I removed system, filled supercharger gear oil but still drops oil pressure very low when engine is warm.
I bought him two shortblock "ready machined". Another I built ready and sold to East-Finland. He has had big problems and now I have too with another engine. Maybe too big bearing clearance. Few hundreds of millimetre too much clearance.... Tomorrow Im all day in garage

Monday engine lost spark. Magneto gives spark when plugs are not installed, but not when those are "under pressure". Yesterday I removed and check 4 times magneto. On table spark is maybe little weak,... I changed points, condenser, tested different points clearance, different timing..... engine not fire up..... so

I contact Clive in Stromberg UK. He sent me 3bolt mounting distributor by DHL.
I also send email to Tom Cirello in Cirello magnetos. I buy new aircraft quality coil from his company.
I want that magneto works, I want spareparts on the road (distributor + coil are good to have in trunk).

I removed pressure oil system + bigger return line. filled supercharger gear/body 75-80% oil.
Today changed oil to Lucas W50. I had too much oil there. That is not good thing, but as You see Im going old and need to get Oskar here daily to follow me and give instructions what to do or not..

do the magnets have plenty of 'pull' when you rotate the mag? (by hand)... w/ new coil and good points not much else...(cap and rotor probs ,but that is different path)

I have had 5pc those Harman Collins. Magneto coils has been recoiled here in Finland. Two times recoiled coil has leak.
Yes, I have adjust magnetos rather much and know how it works. I have new points, condensers, cap,... Now I change new Aircraft quality coil. Never again send coil to South-East Finland recoiling. 3y ago I had same problem with my P-51 roadster. Then he recoiled warranty.

So much things to do, so today I start to make 5w coupe top.
We have so quiet here when "midsummer" weekend. We have + 550 000summer cottage here in Finland, +230 000lakes, ... so people have 3-4days mini holiday. Oskar is also leave me and join his girlfriends family. They are also spend long weekend their summer cottage, so I have good time to make cardboard mould and start to cut top aluminum. Also need to weld more material to panel above wiendshield.

I hope Tom Cirello (CA) and Stromberg-97 (UK) stuff is arrive next week.
I decided that I make double wirings to ignition (pointless system + magneto)

    Auliz,
At one time you were selling upper and lower radiator hoses to put '37 and later Ford flatheads in
32 Fords. You were having someone make them for you. Do you still sell these or know where I might
buy some? I need some and your hoses would make the job much easier.

Need to check if I still have lower hoses.
Upper hoses I have sold out long time ago, I use myself rest 3pair.

S-curve hoses business is not so good, so Im not sure if I still want to sell those.
