I just bought a few Ford flat beds and 2 F700s and I need to get them back to the Brenham , Texas area. I’d rather not have to pay a wrecker company to haul them and I think they are too wide to carry on a standard car hauler… the F700s are FOR SURE. Does anyone know someone with a large hauler trailer that does this kind of thing? If so please let me know. Thank you!
I am not close to you but this might help. There is a crane company near me that will haul big things. Not the regular thing but if it is no hurry they will do it. They brough my D8 Cat in for me. I would look for something like that.
Check around with local truckers. Sometimes you can find an independant that needs a return load from where ever the rigs are located instead of running empty. Ask around and go directly to the owner/operator and you should get a better price than going through a dispatcher. Maybe not cheapish, but a chance you could get them on one lowboy or even flatbed if you can find a place to load.
Do the F-700s run? Or does the transporter need a whinch to load the trucks and a forklift to load the flatbed? Makes a difference on what kind of trucker you need.
If you are trying to save money, that isn’t going to happen. That is a load that must be hauled legally. Otherwise it can be impounded when the operator handling the load is put out of service. If the vehicles can’t be driven and you don’t have authority and/or equipment to legally transport them yourself, the best choice is hire a legal hauler where the vehicles are at and be prepared to pay for a round trip. They have lots of guys that are experienced in hauling larger vehicles and equipment that myself and the guys I recommend cannot do. You would need the specs and weight to know if the 700s could be hauled. My trailer has drive over fenders and can haul anything that is legal width to drive on the road. Weight and length is the concern. But if you are hauling someone else’s truck you better have ICC numbers and the right license.
Depending on where they are being picked up at, you can check with some of the Hot Shot operators in the Permian Basin.
This is the bare minimum rig that you will need to find. My 1960 Ford C700 on a 20,000 lb rated flatbed gooseneck trailer. It was everything my F350 wanted to pull (especially into a stiff Red River Valley head wind). A better setup would be a 450 or 550 cl*** pull truck. Plenty of hot shot guys running this type combination with winch trailers. Work with a freight broker or something like U-Ship It and I would guess that you will end up paying between $3 and $4 per mile, one way, perhaps cheaper if multiple loads are involved.
