I'm going, with two of my sons. (One lives in San Diego.)
It will be my second time, last year was my first.
I think it's going to be a yearly tradition.

  7. I keep going back and forth if I am going to sell this year at the Roadster show I will definitely walk it. (For the record I've been going there since I was 16 I'm 46 now and I have never actually been inside the show only the swap meet I think I've only missed one show back in my twenties because my boss sucked but that's a different story).
I want to go to the Roadster show to Sell but the last few years it has been absolutely abysmal for crowds And when you are talking This year it is $125- when I might make $300 or 400 bucks It's hard to justify the cost.

I plan on going Friday & Saturday. Last year I got burned to a crisp on Friday, too much sun exposure, had to take a pass on Saturday. I plan on staying covered up this year. Good news is June gloom has been in full force so far this year, so temps have been mild, unlike those years where it was triple digits. Weather.com predicts a high of 85 on Friday and 90 on Saturday, warm but not too bad. Bring a wide brim straw hat. I'm not looking for anything in particular this year, so I'll just be browsing, though a couple of front runners would be good now that I think about it.

Friday was ok last year , 2/3 full at the swap, Saturday saw swappers leaving at 10am and earlier. I don’t believe buyers are allowed in Thursday? Kind of a 2 edged sword Saturday buyers leave because sellers leave .

I look at it the same way as a Saturday/ Sunday Swapmeet. Half the sellers leave at the end of the day Saturday and show up Sunday and load up slowly

Swap Space T10 Center of the field. Parts from the Midwest. Hauled this stuff 1700+ miles. We'll be easy to deal with, like to go home with an almost empty truck. Krylon32

I just nuked half this thread.

Fellas, do us all a favor—leave the brain-melting nonsense from your favorite 24-hour news circus off the HAMB. This place isn’t for politics, culture wars, or whatever outrage machine you’re tuned into.

Keep dragging that crap in here, and you’re gonna find yourself without an account. Simple as that.

Just got back from the swap meet. Entered thru gate 17 off Arrow Highway like usual. 20 bucks to park, credit card only and the machine wasn't working correctly. Who knows how many times my card got run, haven't checked yet. Then we lined up at the entrance gate that everyone has entered for years. There were about 40 people lined up and then we were told that the entrance was only for vendors. Everyone had to walk all the way around the lot to another entrance and they only could take exact change or credit cards. Once inside there were a lot of empty seller spaces. Some deals and lots of cool stuff but I didn't see a lot of people with full wagons. IMO it wasn't what it used to be. No photos since my cell phone takes crap pictures. And by the way, when I left thru the "vendor only" gate they were allowing spectators to pay and enter thru the gate. WTF?

Here are some shabby, Pacifico inspired, shots from yesterday, fourth is the view from our space, thing did fill up a bit as the day went on. Weather was nice, some interesting (overpriced) stuff; made a few dollars, spent ten. compared to the past, I would give it a 6, but still worth checking out. Weather is good.

If the prices are right people will buy. If you think what you have is gold then good luck to you. I see both examples at every swap meet but now many have what I call the Barrett-Jackson Syndrome. If it's old it must be valuable and worth a fortune. Whatever, I'll keep walkin. I get good stuff every year but sadly the number of people strolling the swap meet is not like before.

I always wonder why the sellers pack up and leave early. What's the hurry? All that work to load and set up just to stay fow a few hours? Sometime the best deals are made as the meet is winding down. I've bought quite a few items where the guy says, "make me an offer. I don't want to take this stuff back home."

I was gonna sell this year but I have a commercial electrical job that I have to finish. I keep telling myself no more side jobs but the call of extra money is strong. if there is such a thing,

Never knew that they had a restriction on VW's in the specialty car parking. Now that I have 67 Ghia that's good news

From the pics I seem to see a lot of vacant concrete. Was this the case?

Spent the day at the swap meet as a vendor. I think this year was even slower than last year. Isles were vacant compared to several years ago. I'm coming next year but the pickup box will be all most empty. Tired of loading and unloading the swap stuff 5-6 times. For no more interest than there was this year might as well leave it home.

Swap meet sure had faded from days past. Used to be visual overload with all the rare and unusual cars and parts you never saw anywhere else. Unfortunately swap meet seems to be dying a painful death. Been attending this event on and off since the mid 70's when it was at the Great Western Exhibit Center

Gary, don’t haul it all the way to California, just bring it to the Lincoln swap next spring. Always full of eager buyers.
