Changed the break in oil and topped off the radiator. I also tightened the collector bolts. Ready to head to Bowling Green this Wednesday morning.

Be extra careful. Some of those door springs are dangerous. Between being wound tight, door weight, and being on ladders you can get hurt in a blink working on them.

  6. 0531251954.jpg And the "Fupp" (Ford/Hupmobile) pre war jalopy is slowly marching on.
I pulled every part off the A engine that had a gasket and replaced the gaskets and seals then I do greased everything and decided to paint it the stock Ford color... When it is all said and done the goal is to make it look like a guy put a hupmobile body on a Model A chassis in 1940 or 1941...
Next is to fully reassemble the engine and transmission now that both are resealed.
I probably should make a build thread for this little project I just got to take more pictures and I'm really bad at doing it. I got a lot of performance parts for it but I want to install it stock just to see how much faster all the bits make it. The last picture is the car really roughly mocked up I want it lower quite a bit lower actually. 0607252006a.jpg 0607252006.jpg

Drove the corvette to the hardware store to get plumbing supplies for the house. Started to leave, the stereo quit, and then I noticed the ammeter was pegged full charge, 30+ amps. I keep some stuff in the car for fixing things, including the old voltage regulator that had been seeming to not charge quite enough. And a volt meter. Volt meter confirmed 18v at the cigarette lighter socket. So I swapped out the regulator, and it was happy again.

When I got home, I opened it up. I think the date code means 2017, I got it as old stock on ebay.

    regulator02.jpg

looks like the problem is some contact material transfer, causing it to "lock" in the full field position?

    regulator01.jpg

maybe I'll give up and put a 10SI on it.

    From brakes update #5308,,,
It drove, but did not stop well> to get too stop well #2 pump. Bleed many more times/also jacked up,all four tire off ground,an adjusted shoes, tell I could not move;then backed off just enough so I could move tire=feels better*,but not enough better*< for hard fast stop, still need#2 pump;;;So I'm thinking { old master had 10lb Residual Pressure Valves { I have 4wheel drums n needs them.}and new master{even though by looking at it=is very same in every way as old master<but can't see in side/no don't want to pull apart = So I call Speedway an ask about it"" We sent you a match, but it dose not have any #10 Residual Pressure Valves, you have to buy those!> OK I did now and should have by weekend. I was told, they did have inside years back, same master with built in Residual Pressure Valves, but no longer can get them that way!
Ya,the old master was new way back some were around 20years ago<so I guess I understand. Yes ,I should of asked about this when new order; Hu'mm,not really SWM falt, but my own for not asking. Come next week, all should be good{ Ya,I said that alot of times..
Old cars are fun Fun,right ! At 84 years old me ,the fun comes shower :D:p:cool:

heh...yeah, these days you have to ask, every time you order a part, "what did they screw up on it now, compared to my old one?"

After the third or forth time of doing this on my basement shop I made a swing out panel with a man door because the door was manly open to foot traffic. Yes the springs need to match the the door weight not that hard to do if one has some common knowledge about how things work. Tools is the keys.

Yep we expect it to be the way it was supposed to be and not have trouble shoot to figure out what they changed. Even when it’s not parts missing the instructions only get you close and you have to figure out what they changed. The front end kit I’m working on puts the centerline 1/2 inch back from the measured centerline before I started. If it would just work right the first time, life would be so much more enjoyable.

  20. IMG_2336 - Copy.JPG IMG_2338.JPG IMG_2339.JPG Just completed wiring the dash and overhead console on my '29 A truck cab. I put the trans and engine temperature gauges abreast of the tachometer, the ignition, light and hazard switches, left, right and hi-beam indicators and rear-view mirror all in the overhead console above the windshield. The speedometer, volt, fuel and oil pressure gauges surround the horn button in the middle of the stock dash.
Next will be wiring the turn signals, brake light switch, fuel sender and lights. I think I can get that done in a few weeks, don't you? Then it's rebuilding the carburetor and hooking up the throttle linkage, buttoning down the floor, spinning the oil pump to get some lubrication to the crank and top end, cranking the engine without plugs in to get the oil pressure up, adding coolant and fuel, installing ignition wires and spark plugs, checking the firing order and timing, starting it up and running it in. Probably going to do the run in without mufflers and tackle that issue once I've got it down to idle.

Nothing more exciting than rust removal. I'm marinating some good ole Ford brake parts in Wood bleach (Oxalic acid). One of the levers is worn and needs a little filler rod to make it new again.

  24. I dug the 41 out of the garage, sure had to move a few things and also put the rear up on dollies so I could slide it over.
Got it outside and gave it a test drive around the long block, seemed ok other than the brake pedal arm dragging on the floor a bit and might need to lengthen the pushrod to get more pedal.
I noticed that there wasn't much left of the 5 gallons of fuel I put in it so back home and gave it it's first bath in 7 years. The paint looks a little closer to matching with it all cleaned up, still need to clean the interior and engine, but that's for another day.

  25. Mocked up the stainless and wood in the 57, this aftermarket stuff doesn't line up great that's for sure. My new doctored up color on the wood is blending in better.
