What type of wrench is required to tighten from bolts on manifold of a running 1950 ford flathead.

I’d shut it off first. Less chance of snagging yourself in the fan.

The bolts should take a 9/16” wrench.

Front bolts are 7/16" need a 5/8" wrench.

I wonder if he is talking about the Intake manifold or the exhaust manifold?

He is talking about the "Manufold" not either one of the regular ones. :D

That’s what came to my mind too. Two different sizes on the exhaust.

  9. Yes, the front bolts are 7/16 not 3/8. depending on the manifold used there may not be a lot of clearance for a wrench or socket. If a thin wall socket cannot be found maybe grinding one down to make it thinner would help. I put a different manifold on my '50 and there wasn't enough clearance to tighten it up. I used a longer bolt with a sleeve on it to make things easier.
