Have you ever been to the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville Ky? Its about half as far away as LA, and the swap meet is always pretty large, full of people and easy to access. You come in off Preston and turn right, go about 500 ft and turn left into the swap meet. They have a gate and just inside you pick up your swap space credentials. Friday is usually pretty busy and Saturday is usually even busier. Come and visit without any parts and check it out or bring parts get a spot. If you decide to come, let me know ..............
Makes one wonder if as mentioned the qualified roadsters are fewer in numbers, where might they be ? However, I'm certain plenty of events are going on all season in the 200 square miles the mayor claims that represents L.A.
About 2/3 of cars trailered into the swap area didn’t have any pricing or “for sale” signage at all… I haven’t been around long enough to know if that is code for “Ask because you can’t afford it” or simply “look at this awesome non-running car I have”.
Well I'm outta here pretty soon and heading to the Murrieta Car Show near my shop. It was fun but I resisted buying more stuff to bring home.
What's with all the non-topic vehicles ? I was under the impression this event was supposed to be a Roadster gathering. Silly me. On more serious note though, how many or what percentage of '32 Ford Roadsters in these events are fakes vs. real ones ?
Rumours are rife that next year will be the last as the contract expires after 2026 and county has raised the fee to an astronomical amount. Fact or fiction?
Man this is one show that the coverage always makes me wonder how good it used to be if there’s so much complaining but the photos look so good? thanks to everyone sharing their photos there’s some great stuff in there!
Great talking to you.....sorry again for the low tent. Was there more to see on Saturday......hopefully I'll be checking it out both days next year.
You would not believe what the swap meet was like from 1979 to 2019. Every swap space was occupied and the buyers were so thick you could hardly walk. In 1980, before the Roadster Club started the designated spaces format, I remember near fist fights on set up day to get a space under a shade tree to stay out of the sun. I still believe that LARS can make a come back, but it might have to be at a different venue. Ontairo, Fontana? There must be someplace in Southern California with enough vacant asphalt to hold this event. The Fairplex has just become too expensive. That's my 2 cents, thanks for listening. CKH
