Actually @deadbeat got his video up and running pretty quick...so he must have dry pasting down to a science. Seriously Alan these are computer terms that go back and yes they can be a little crazy to decipher. Dry paste Alan...no glue... If you might be serious that means to left click on text or pic hold and drag to select. when text is all selected release hold and left click into post and right click select paste...done. Or...select text or pic then hit keys Ctrl c then left click into post and hit keys Ctrl v...done 2 ways good luck...
The only reason I haven't said from where is because I thought there may be some rules against posting advertising from other sites etc. Don't want to upset anyone. Cheers
Maybe so,,will let you know if it does, lol. But atm it looks like less of a chance as the original carb fueled up so bad I had a sump full of gas, twice, and no matter what I did with rebuild, new kits, cleaning etc I had to shit can it and got this one. Cheers
You can tell zinc alloy (aka pot metal etc.) from aluminium because the zinc is about as heavy as steel or cast iron, while the aluminium is as light as aluminum.
An interesting read all this.Pleased your new carb worked for you, would not of been short of a few told you so,ers if you had dramas with it.Good outcome so far. And so true, the 94s can be a bitch to seal, only talking of the few I have played with. Out of interest what fuel pressure are you running and how about a pic of the whole car?
Currently just a tad under 3lb's on a cheap gauge. Honestly I could just head down to the shed, a few pumps on the gas and it will run after she has warmed up. I haven't hooked up the choke. Cant blame people for being negative about them but for me over here its a cheaper alternative. Cheers
@deadbeat I think that's the first Rocker-Cover Dash I've ever seen...That is a Rocker -Cover right? Cool Hotrod there... Many happy miles ahead to you...
Lol,,yeah used an old FE valve cover. There used to be a cover of alloy and there were way too many holes underneath. Piece of irrigation pipe for the speedo, molded it in and whamo, instant dash
@deadbeat several years later, are you still running these carbs successfully ? Let us know how it all went if possible. Thanks !
Yep, sure are, heaps of miles and smiles. Been everywhere in the North Island with it. Actually, I haven't even pulled it apart yet. Doesn't leak, no stumble etc. The only thing that happens now and then is the little lever for the accelerator pump that has 3 holes in it pops out when I knock it etc. Funny you brought this up as I have just got a uni sync for all 3 to check over winter, might pull them down to have a look. Cheers
Thanks for the reply. I have heard some good comments about the sherryberg, - was that the one you purchased ? Currently around $200 when a genuine Stromberg is $920 You know what they say…………..l.if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it !
Have you ever tried genuine parts on it yet? Some of the stromberg copies use different threading for jets and such from what I’ve read here. It would be a real stroke of genius if they were designed to use modern Holley bits like jets, power valve, etc
Yeah Sherryberg. They seem to only make a few at a time. I'm getting another one soon for my 6 carb intake. For the money its worth the risk I reckon, cheers No, I haven't pulled it apart. I have had since 2018 and have never checked the jet sizes etc. I just slapped it on, adjusted the mixture screws and went with it,cheers
Hey @deadbeat can your big sausages fingers pull apart a dinky little 94 ? Lol. Oh yes I do remember you pulled apart our 4 barrel when it was leaking big time on the side of the road, and saved us. Seriously if it ain’t broke, just saying. But you have proven all the nay sayers wrong and it runs great , and no balls of flame have occurred.
@Kiwi 4d, lol, I guess some folk think that anything not from stateside is rubbish and I can agree to some point, however, with the price that @clem mentioned it was and still is worth the risk. I would be keen to see if genuine parts will fit as mentioned above, doubt it though Cheers
@deadbeat, thanks for taking the chance. it's good to have an alternative source. An acquaintance has had good luck with Chinese replacement carbs of some Japanese vehicles. Why should he have all the luck?
I guess I can join in on this. Do Amerasian 94s count? In 2021 I bought a brand new Dennis Carpenter “94, “American Made 94”, that means assembled in the US with foreign castings. Basically I think I got a Chinese 94, tinted gold that has flathead screws in a Made in USA box. I paid about 500 backs for it. $ 200 for the carburetor and $300 for the box. The pretty box did have the Stars and Stripes on it. Industry in China is all “collective”. Edelbrock tried to resurrect the “94” in the early 2000s. The castings were Chinese made. All of a sudden the Clones start showing up at a fraction of the price. Imagine that. Edelbrock bailed, Carpenter picked it up for a while...... I was sick of building and tweaking 70 year old carburetors with so-so success. Most of us know about the power valves and all that stuff. Hey it said USA on the box! I was sick of dumping the fuel bowls into the crankcase overnight. The new 94, takes 2 nights to dump into a the crankcase. Overall it was better than the wore out junk I tried to use. I’m going to have to put a kit in in it. To be fair this may be my fault. The coupe sits for months at a time and this spring my new 94 rolled over and floated to the top of the bowl. The little link would fall off and it tended to run rich. It ran good, maybe a little better than what I had.
American colloquialism……….… ………now I understand. - thanks @Bandit Billy - a picture is worth a thousand words, or in this instance, as @patsurf put it, - just one ! sorry about your fish……..
Lousy, but well earned reputation, would be my guess. Ever wonder why most things made in China don’t have a recognizable product name on them. They usually have a throwaway (with no good reputation earned) weird name, on their throw away product! Good, but deceitful way to avoid a bad reputation.
