I know a guy from around here who overtightened his front wheel bearings and had one seize up a couple thousand miles from home. More specifically in West Monroe Louisiana. He said the AAA gal on the phone and the tow guy who took him to a NAPA and the counter man at the NAPA couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Turns out he didn't read down far enough in the instructions. That set of instructions said to torque the spindle nut to some number of ft lbs (theoretically to seat everything) and then back it off and set it to a certain number of inch pounds. He just did the first part and never scrolled down on his not so smart phone to even see, let alone read and follow the second part. And yeah, the second one went before he learned his lesson. Fortunately not on the same trip. Doesn't matter how well you pack yer bearings with grease if you over tighten the spindle nut.
