I live in a town of about 5000 people. A few years ago they started to have a motorcycle show once a month. They parked their motorcycles around the town square for everyone to see. Then they invited people to bring their cars, customs and hot rods. Maybe some of you live in small towns and could start doing something like this. It brings a lot of people together for a good time. Well worth the effort.
I wrote and posted this 20 minutes ago. Probably applies here, too. BTW, I live in a fairly small town (12K) and have posted pics from the monthly event. To offer a solution rather than just belly aching, I could suggest that everyone use a tool that already exists. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forums/other-events.96/ With more engagement, this could be used to let everyone know of upcoming events even outside the local area. I sort of was aware of this being here, but had to go looking for it. If each of us refer to this section every time a question is asked about shows, it should gain more eyes and more postings.
I totally forgot about " other events". now need to try to use it, and get others to check it and post on it. with so many threads here on other topics easy for this to be missed.
If you can can get folks in the habit of watching a thread that may have useful information, that is how word gets around and things change. We need to keep helping each other. Jim
You are fine! Us HAMBers like pictures of cool stuff, so if there is a local show, take some and post them. The reply is an old meme. He was not saying you did anything wrong. Now, if someone replies with a rabbit with a pancake on it's head... well, then it's time to ponder! If you get one with Liberace, you goofed! The previous inside references go back many years. The rest is just talking about the sub forum I mentioned and how the rest of us should use it more. I will mention that local gatherings are best done as informal to start, but at some point the businesses and law prefer to have an entity to contact. A local club may fill this, but when it gets to this point, handshakes and promises are not enough. It gets into liability, insurance, incorporation. Just the facts these days.
