It looks like the 8ba has possibilities. New rings for that bore are difficult to find ( my experience), but the decks have been cut as there is no sign of corrosion in the picture. I suggest checking the bores for rust damage and clean the sludge from everything. If you have a fiber timing gear, replace it.

It’s my first QC, and so will be a learning experience. Winters SR3620 Center section that @krylon32 set me up with on my minimal budget. I have to decide what year bells I want to go with yet. I felt a QC was a must-have and I’m looking forward to learning about them as I piece this together.

The 57 has been taking all the time and money recently. Not to mention the new seat upholstery for the 53 and a Fenton split exhaust found at the swap meet. But, I now have 100 amp to the shop (pending inspection) and so hopefully very soon a real welder, good psi etc. so that I can turn my attention back to the coupe ch***is. In the meantime a little surface rust removal. I need to strip the tulip panel too. So if anyone has suggestions on a stripper that works well and that won’t kill me let me know.

    Hi Bob! Long time.
Great suggestion. I think I have a couple of those from HF somewhere. I’ll give them a shot.

Yup, the little stripper disks work well. One disk stripped the full panel. Found a couple of small dings and a little pitting, but it’s an honest panel overall.

This came today. Cheapest repop on eBay, but looks the part until the day I can lay down cash for a real one.

Not much of and update. Things have been busy, and the shop pretty cold. I did buy some petals listed as 39. I don’t think they are. Oh well. I’ll see I can make them work when the time comes.

    Back to the quickchange.
I borrowed @brsturges ‘ Banjo Bell Build Base trick. I can see how this could make things easier. I made them stout enough to trip over later.
