I said the other day on the OT convertible thread, that Vette roadsters were probably the best looking top-down cars ever made.

    Great stuff man!

I love the over all look n color ,but It seems to me a shop that is high end*,should be smart enough to know about front tire scrub,an not use big out set front rims that make high scrub! = How many other things not known to them, screw up are hinding, were they don't show. Maybe none or ?;)

Funny story is the engine. Has a 426 hemi.
friend bought it built. Originally built with a 350 and a Muncie 319.
    IMG_2117.jpeg
told me for some reason the 319 was kept.
Says he doesn’t hammer on it at all. Probably the only 426/319 combo on the planet:)
    Cool shift knob

  12. They know.
Don’t think they really care. We built a few like this at JHRS.
If the tire wore, it got new ones. One of those form over function things.

    and it’s traditional:)

    'They Know"
    < not really.
"Tire wore?",u'm,don't know why said that?, it's not what higher then design scrub dose*,but what it dose do*,is adds to darting side to side when one front hits a bump,an not the other at same time, plus adds to pull to one side from braking not having the very same brake action/drag each side.=Poor feel driving{also something many have no feel for," But live in world of,if don't understand the engineering> so is not a prob. to them."
High scrub, like high bump steer, are very real prob.'s. The fail is those who don't feel the problems,as they think what they do feel isn't anything at all ." Have a mind set> "These are old cars an they all feel kind of bad"= BS. Many that don't know, will say BS ,like : "I been driving it this way for years,it's find"= No its not find, the're foolish n lucky so far.
Maybe that the term" Scrub as used in talking about steering" dose not mean to slide the tire. It's used to tell the amount/size of leverage from center line of tire on the road to steering axis were it hits road{ kingpin center line were it hits the road} . The longer the leverage, the more any force acting on tire will make it turn, with out driver doing, or wanting that.

I likely wasted my time, writing that out,do too many don't want to read anything passed 2 or 3 lines,or find out they did not understand ,what they thought they did.
"Reaction often is" That dose not matter"

Ya,I still love the over all look of that first pic. Thanks for others too.

    Hey @dana barlow old buddy.
I know that you know that the scrub radius problem mainly comes from those who just have to show off the fins of the Buick drums and it really does cause a big scrub radius issue. But if you look close at that roadster, I think you'll see that it looks to be in pretty good shape cuz they didn't do that. Most of the drum is stuffed into the wheel, which I always thought not only works better, but also looks better. And we can still see the fins just fine and they're beauteous.
But let me suggest that you might have confused the 3W coupe in the next picture immediately under it with the roadster. Because that coupe really does have the classic Buick drum scrub radius thing going on. Have to say, it always looks to me like the wheels are going to fall off hanging out like that. Beautiful coupe. It's just the wheels are gonna fall off. LOL

  17. I asked my old boss about dumpsteer on one of his builds not long ago. He knew where it was coming from. He grinned and said diagnosing a car from a pic is deceiving sometimes.
A 33 coupe left our shop and the owner drove it almost 6k miles from Al to Cal then back up
Around I think thru Colorado. Has the same front brake set up. Similar size wheel
    Had 2 issues.
    The dougnash lost 5th gear.
The front bias tires had a slight feathering issue.
    Car drove great.
Could hold it straight with a pinky
The only scary part was the 502.:)
Non of the problems listed happened.
    That’s all I know.
