So, my Edsel saga ends here. After a two days thrash - I barely had time to sand the filler obviously - I drove away and traded the car for another old ford product. Hopefully the new owner will pick up where left and install a drawer knob grille and some headlight frostings…. Ding dong, over and out, shout bamalama
The Edsel is on the road with a new owner putting smiles on people’s faces . I have several stalled out projects. I wish I had your strength to box them up and sell them to someone who will enjoy them
I burned out on my Falcon projects because they were taking so long! That's why I'm bustin' my ass with my Morris. If I stall out, it will never get done and this is more than likely my last project.
Have faith... I'm considering a 4th "final project". I'll be 69 in Sept.! I build drivers, nothing is ever going to be pretty. Perfection is not within the reality of my builds, it needs to be ready to drive in a couple years, max. I hate doing body work much past welding in patches. I hate applying and sanding filler, I know how to do it, but I don't have the patience to finish it. Body work is "done" and painted in 2-3 months, weather its ready or not by real standards, it will be ready by my standards. Stupid isn't the correct term here. Thinking outside of the box, or thinking of something differently, is more correct. You had a vision, and stepped up to the plate to gave it a shot. That puts you 10 steps above those that may have a vision but never act on it. Building something to align with a vision is a tough undertaking. Sometimes we fall short, or get distracted from the vision, or sometimes one vision gets replaced with a different one. When those things happen, its probably better to send the old vision away, so we can peruse the new vision. Keep chasing the visions and keep trying to achieve them! When you accomplish producing just one vision to completion, its a great accomplishment. There is nothing that is more rewarding. Then another vision pops into your head, and you have to peruse it.
