Yeah, same here. For me it was Raybestos wheel cylinders, brake shoes, and brake hoses. When I opened the box I remembered what you said in your truck thread...
    Then I said Fuck.

Lmao! Yeah everybody told me to buy only ac delco ball joints for my 57 wagon, so I ordered them, and they came in with made in China on the box :D I ordered rear wheel studs from mosier, and I ordered a 5 point harness. Think I'll leave the bearing alone for a bit, change it before the tri five nationals.

Sounds like you're getting it ready to race. I'm pretty sure you'll have to do something about the fuel filler in the passenger compartment too, if you haven't already.

Do you mean a cover? It's a certified fuel cell, roll over vent, etc. If they start being a bitch, I'll load it up and go back home lol... it's a damn street car, I don't want a drag car.

I don't know if they'll allow some kind of a cover but there are rules about having a firewall with no holes between the tank and the passenger compartment. I thought I was going to have to remove my screwed in, 20 gage steel firewall at one track because they wanted to see my tank from the top. You can see from the bottom it was a new re-pop tank. They did let me make a couple of runs, as is, though. With lap belts and OEM wheel studs.

  7. You could probably put a cover over it and pretend you use the stock gas door and filler. We have some pretty strict tech nazis here and I've never had my fuel tank checked before, battery box yes, but not fuel.
You also should've been fine with just regular old lap belts, sometimes putting in "race car" shit just invites them to start looking harder at everything else.

Yeah this shit is really busting my balls. Kinda like the TV bullshit. A street car is a street car. I'm pretty sure the harness thing is the gasser association rule.

I kinda think that street outlaw stuff on TV changed the definition of street car. Them things are way closer to a pro mod than a street car.

I guess I need to prepare a speech! Lmao! I pulled the leaves, put the ladder bars back in, abandoned the panhard bar and went with a track bar setup. Still gotta do some adjusting, and see if I fixed the wheel hop issue. Need to install the 5 point harness, wheel studs, drop the side pipes, put some VP110 in the tank and set the timing up. Should be ready before next weekend, but the 100⁰ temps are killing my fat ass. Too humid to do much in the shop!

You ain't kidding about the heat, bro. It's felt like a Kentucky heat wave in the Northeast this week. Got a little more done on my '55 before it started really cookin'. Keep on keepin' on!

  16. I work at a auto shop, all week has been 100+ in the shit shop. My ass is officially kicked into the ground, and one day to go yet.

I worked an accident on the interstate from 2am until 4am this morning, got back to the station, finished my run report and back in bed. Big plans in the shop today, until I woke up and looked at the clock! It was noon  gathered my shit, came home, took a shower, and climbed back in bed. Tmrw is a new day. 1 month of that shit left and I'll get up sleep like a normal human again.

Truck bed or Hotel doesn't matter. She sounds like a keeper to me but that's JMO.

Guess I'm lucky that the heat doesn't bother me that much. It's the cold I can't stand.

Lloyd you’re a tough man. My last 5 years of work . I worker 5 to 5 , 6 weeks day run , 6 weeks night run . 3 on 2 off , 3 off 2 on . Hard ass job just to keep up with the schedule , tough on a marriage . It’s a young man’s shift , you grow old fast . I lived 35 miles from work , there were days I did not remember getting to work or returning home . Be safe my friend

  28. Dave, was it a Twin Cam? I inherited Dad’s Twin Cam FLHT and he named it The Nut Cooker after sitting on Lazelle Street in Sturgis.

It was a Shovelhead . Back right edge of the rear head had me standing along side of it for a few minutes . No parade duty on that one ever !
