The float level was too high and with the float bowl in front the fuel would "spill" over and come out of the discharge nozzles. At least this is what I think was happening. After lowering the float level it stopped or at least it is a lot less.
I have seen some different recommendations for settings also what are the lowest? I think mine are at 1& 11/32" or a little lower and I would like to go a little lower still. The car runs good now with no bad effects with the setting on the low side.
Our first measurement was 1&8/32 which is what it came with, so we set it to 1&13/32 which is a spec we found for a Holley 94, but it still dripped. We lowered the float level to 1&15/32 and the dripping stopped. So this brand new carb had the float set almost a quarter inch too high. I looked at the NCI site and I am unable to find a spec sheet so it looks like we are on our own. Maybe we should set the float even lower, what's this thing going to do bouncing down the road? I am looking forward to seeing what the secondary carbs floats are set at. If they are also too high, they should have the same problem. We blocked off the secondaries as Jim suggested and it is idling around 650.
Put about ten miles on it today. Starts right up and probably could use a a tad stronger return spring. I’m going to order or find a 10/32 hex screw to replace the Phillips head idle adjustment screw
I’m going to get the prime carb dialed before we (crackpot and I) start messing with the secondaries. Lots of little issues need to be looked at as I’m shaking it down
