Hope this is the right place for this. Looking at a 55 plymouth, I've found resources for disk brakes but not much for power steering. I see there was a option for " coaxial " steering in the belvedere and fury, but was wondering if anyone has adapted a newer box into one of these cars. I do see one kit for the 55 and 6 on ebay for $1200 but the pitman arm looks scary. I don't really want to go rack and pinion. I was thinking maybe a grand cherokee box might be a candidate??
Any tips on upgrading these cars would be welcome, not much info on them out there.

    Traditional cars don’t need it.
    Just an opinion of course.

I’m hoping that someone out there has some ideas for this PS request. My Stude pickup with a 57-58 Plymouth front clip could use some help too. My buddy is installing one of those modern electronic power steering kits on his truck but that’s just not my style. Hoping for a power box recommendation.

The problem I've seen with the electric power steering conversion is,If you have a column shifter , it gets in the way, manual or automatic

I helped convert @PasoJohn 58 Plymouth convert from manual to power maybe 15 years ago. We sourced a rebuilt factory Power steering gear from Lares. If I remember correctly it was not cheap, even back then. looking at their web page it looks like they are wholesale only now and direct you to buy at one of their retailers. they list one as Rockauto. I looked there and it says out of stock? Maybe contact Lares directly
