A case of Gibbs oil will cost you about a buck and a half! Preservation of a cool look isn’t cheap.

I don’t blame you, must’ve been a lot of work just to shorten. I love it!

  13. Technically it is chopped. Chopped in half. :)
Not channeled but a gm clip was Zd 4 inches up into the body grafted to the original frame. IMG_4485.jpeg

  19. No big cheesy grin comments?

  20. That’s how I cruise it.
I’ve had people fly past me on the interstate, pull over and film it. Guys get out at red lights and take pics. I’ve been followed for miles until I stopped somewhere.
gas station stops are crazy sometimes.
I worked on high end European cars for years. Would test drive em regularly. Never had one get attention like this rusty bus does.

Go figure. Was built basically on a whim. One of those why not kinda things.

Years ago, Tom McMullen of Street Rodder built a short earlier Ford bus. It was all shiny and pretty, but I bet not nearly as much fun.

  22. That one was killer.
I had a 49f5 clip I almost used. But that one was a good bit narrower.
I don’t see these anywhere I go so I guess I’m ok with it.
I almost bought a 59 ford shortie that had a 57f100 clip. I should have bought it.

    I'd drive it! :)
Diggin' it, but want to know what it takes to get the rear tires off.
You know why it gets more attention; bigger visually, easily identified but different, and zero pretensions.:cool::cool:

  24. The wheel house side panel was originally rivited.
    It has screws now.
You can remove that section to access tires and the gas tank.
When ya build low ya gotta design em low

Did you drill out all the rivets on the seams on the outer panels and then rivet it back together? What about the inner panels did you screw them back on ? Did you insulate it while it was apart ? Maybe a build thread ? lol I have a 58-9 Ford bus . It’s long . I drug it home to save it from the crusher .

  27. We rough cut the section we removed. An air hammer handled the rivets.
The rear section(one side window and rear door area) was removed intact. Then the area we joined it back together trimmed and prepped. Slid the rear section back on after the frame was cut and welded. It has a deep C notch. Almost every rivet hole lined back up. It has pop rivets now but I have real OE style rivets I’ll replace em with one day.
all the interior panels was removed. The inner roof was Ez. The inner side panels sacrificed to save the outer.
there is no insulation or interior panels in it now. Just some seats and steel floor.
No heat other than removing the trans tunnel.
    Manual wiper.
