    56 & 57 Lincolns had a 368 , I may be wrong, but I don't think any Ford engine would bolt up

That's what wiki said, lincoln and mercury only.
I'd guess that they are a bit underwhelming and tough to find, then the parts hunt and a competent machine shop.
That's a neat car, but I smell money pit before you even start on suspension and brakes.
I don't need another project, but it's always a mental game to play; 'What would I do here' at basic get it running and driving, then what if I could toss 10-20k at it.

On the Lincoln: I'd drop in a truck 351W and C6 in a heartbeat.
The '61 Econo will get a 240/300 six.
    Both would get flamed.

Had a 58 Merc with that engine. That car would move ! 120 easy.
    Owned 2 1956 Lincolns
IIRC, the first one was $3500 at an auction in York, NE.
Light blue / white. No A/C. Nice, but didnt keep it long.
2 nd one was a lot more but it had A/C, and recent paint. It was nice too, but didn't drive it as much as anticipated. Probably 20 yrs ago.
The right front wheel kept losing the wheel cover; tried to keep it on as tight as possible with rubber mallet and thought it was good. Was going to a local car show on north 27th street and the wheel cover popped off. I watched in the rear view mirror as some feckless a-hole drove right over it. I just know he saw it!
Back then wheel covers weren't that expensive, so I got a replacement.
Checked the wheel over and couldn't really see anything wrong. Swapped it for the spare, and no more problems. Must've been something in the wheel contour.

  10. That is a pretty damn good deal I mean it looks like the car has shiny paint and it's a two-door...
As for the engine the parts aren't in the trunk to put it back together just throw the factory engine in the trash can it's not like it was a good performer to begin with replace it with a 410 Merc FE or Go a little newer and drop in a 69 to '71 460 with a C6 or if you want to actually have a car that you can afford to drive on a daily basis put a 302 in the thing like one of the late model roller motors again it's just a cruiser it's not a race car such a cool looking car.

I imagine the bell pattern would be the same as others.

@MCjim , I've seen paintings on walls that cost a lot more. Not the prettiest picture, though.
@George , I agree that a different engine could be engineered to fit, after all this is a hot rod forum.
I'd also say that Ford made some really nice BBs later and I doubt many would devalue it if a lima was dropped in with a lockup OD. That would almost certainly be cheaper than trying to do a stock rebuild.
    It's all just dreaming anyway.

Gotta give 'em credit, nice presentation. It's not on 4 flats covered in dirt still on the trailer. :)

'59 El Camino looks rough, but those are super valuable cars, that's as cheap as you'll likely ever see one that's titled and looks complete. Plus, whoever buys it gets to pick that giant scab of body filler off of the side, and I bet that would be super satisfying.

Bet the whole middle third will need reconstruction...
As for pulling the scab, you need to do a roof tearoff in the summer and get that out of your system! :D

Working from the bottom up is easier. None is actually easier, just relative... Flat shovel w/teeth & a bottom-brace for leverage helps. Excellent way to acquire "bonus-exercise". & lose some weight too. :D .

I’ve always been a top down guy, that way the shingles slide down the existing material not in the attic and not on me
