Thank You for sharing the story of the build . I used to know where a 48-52 Chevy short bus was at . It had been converted to a camper . But it got s****ped

 

So did mine.
I had to go in to school on a Saturday to take care of something, on the way home this bus was on the hook going the other direction I figured it was headed to the local s**** yard. I was on the phone with the wife when it p***ed. Told her an old bus just p***ed me headed to s****. She said to turn around. I told her I had too much now to fix. She said go look anyway.
The bus was crossing the scales as I pulled in. I walked to the owner that was running a shear and told him I wanted the bus. He said they didn’t have any busses. I said you do now. It was just pulling into the shred area. He laughed as said sure, come back Monday and we’ll work something out. I said cool, don’t let your guys kill it. He said they’d leave it alone.
worked a deal on Monday.
Hauled a load of s**** in myself and paid the difference.
Got it pulled to school, we are there 3 weeks before school starts so we got to mess with it. Took us about an hour to fire it up. Rigged up a tank, some fuel line, cleaned the points and our mechanic instructor wired up a key switch.
Fired up.
We was drifting it in some gravel next to school and our superintendents just happened to be visiting. He got a big laugh watching us act like students.

 

There’s a rat rod bus that shows up at Starbirds show at Tulsa . It has a pontoon boat mounted on top of it . The inside of pontoons were cut away so it would set on the bus . I saw it at the HAMB drags several years ago. The owner had the top up , they were sitting in the shade up high and watching the drags .

 

Maybe someone should start a bus thread if there isn’t one already lol
