It's not rocket surgery. I needed to drill some 1/4" holes in a floor pan. I was concerned in that there was an area just below where I needed the holes that I didn't want to damage.
I grabbed a piece of 5/16" fuel line with an inverted flare end. Having a 1/4" ID I cut the tube to length, placed drill bit in, squeezed slightly drill.jpg in vice so it wouldn't slip out and drilled my holes without fear of damaging the surface below. Ron

Here are a couple I came across recently and snapped pix.

This is a tool that I made almost 20 years ago to screw in the parking brake adjustment on a car with rear disk brakes. It's pretty rusty now 'cause it's been sitting in a drawer attracting humidity all these years. It got used once. I know I ought to throw it in the steel recycling barrel and get rid of it; "but what if I need it again???"

This is a wrench that I made so long ago that I can't remember what I made it for. That handle shaft is 1/2" x 1/2" square tube so it's obviously for something about 1" across the flats. And for something that I couldn't get a normal wrench on due to it being a long ways "down." Please don't dis on the welding. I like to think that I'm a somewhat better welder now. b-t-w; it looks like my trailer fender is ready for a repaint, but it ain't broke so why fix it? This ain't no Pebble Beach trailer. 20250604_174747.jpg

I feel quite uneducated. For a great part of my life, I've seen ring rollers for sale in all the tool stores, in all the shop articles- they're everywhere.

Evidently there is an entire world of people that need to make metal hulahoops of varying sizes for dozens and dozens of reasons, but aside from circling up rebar when pouring concrete columns, I can't for the life of me understand why so many people of multiple industries require them.

What am I missing? Is it just super handy for making arcs for fabricating? Clue me in, please?

I had to replace the adjusters in a set of Mopar 273 mechanical rockers with a set that uses lock nuts. So I had to spot face the rockers.
    close up 1 driver side.jpg
I setup a bolt on the drill press, then mounted the rockers on that through the adjuster hole/threads.

I put the drill press in a cut up box to cut down on the mess.

I stuck an arbor for a Rol-Loc disc in the drill press, then adjusted things so it hit the right place on the rocker.

More not rocket surgery. Early Ford master cylinder under floorboards with limited room to tighten or loosen cap. From short rack I found a 1 1/4" X 1/8" wall square tube. 1" square ID fits cap perfectly. Ron brk2.jpg brk1.jpg brk3.jpg brk4.jpg brk5.jpg
