The Hotrod website had all their old magazines scanned and available for free to read in a web browser. (hosted by Zinio for you tech guys). I just checked for the first time in a month, and it's gone. Does anyone know anything about it? What happened? It seems pretty weird to remove such a m***ive resource like that. I'm extremely disappointed that it's gone. I can only suspect it's a cost cutting measure by the new management. Thanks for any info
Yup. Looks like it’s gone. I sort of expected that would happen. Wish they had transferred the database and maintenance of it to some other en***y instead of trashing it, though. It was good while it lasted.
there's a thread on this already. It's still on the motortrend app, but I'm not sure how you're supposed to be able to read the small images on your phone....
Hello, It is so difficult for anyone to read any type of print on such a small screen as a phone, let alone the largest ones at 6 inches. But, for a little search, one can use the larger tablets up to 13-14 inches and your laptop sizes. So, large print is easily arranged. Any tablet size is better than a small phone. Although, it is secondary device as it cannot make calls and fit in your pocket. Now, reading along, the whole Motortrend app is able to be displayed on your large screen tv if you select it to be one of your streaming channels. So, everyone is set for large print reading. Jnaki I thought my laptop was large at 17 inches, but if I wanted to read the dinky typed information on the Motor Trend app, nothing is more accessible than the large screen TV. Note: At the rate TV shows are disappearing these days, subscription prices are questionable as far as refunds. And sometimes, refunds are tallied towards another network subscription that you may have not wanted in the first place. YRMV
They must be cutting cost by not hosting it on the website anymore. It was so much better to read it on a computer screen. I'll check it out on the phone app, thanks for the info
Exactly this. My holy grail would be Rodders Journal scanned at high resolution. If I ever won the lottery, i'd buy several magazine collections and have them scanned for my own personal use. It's so nice to have a magazine on a 32" screen, and being able to zoom in on pictures and text. It's a game changer. I love the feel and smell of old magazines, but my aging eyes don't care much for small text.
