    Thanks for the clarification.

I am working from 50 year old handwritten notes or what a relative "remembers". I suspect the correct date is the 1960 Daytona event. I found the following summary :

"The first NHRA Winternationals was held in 1960 at the Flagler-Bunnell Airport in Bunnell, Florida, not in Daytona Beach. The event was a co-production of NHRA and NASCAR, and it took place from February 7-13, 1960. The event was organized by Ernie Schorb, a young man who had previously enlisted the help of Wally Parks, the founder of NHRA, in organizing and sanctioning races and tracks in Florida.

According to the first result, the official program for the first NHRA-NASCAR Winter Nationals, February, 1960, carried both ***ociation logos, suggesting a unique partnership between the two organizations

. The event was a success, with over 200 race cars participating and a large crowd of spectators in attendance.

The event was notable for its seven-night schedule, which ran in conjunction with racing at the Daytona International Speedway. The event was also a response to a growing problem of street racing in Daytona Beach, which threatened to cancel the entire Speedweek schedule "

    Hello,

Well, in further research, there was the big, original Winternationals in Pomona. Then there was the Winternationals by the AHRA during a week or so after. Then across the country, the Daytona version was not by NHRA, but NASCAR. So, there was a confusion of organizations leaping to the ***le… Winternationals.

This story and results come from the daytona event that NASCAR provided in 1962. Not the original Winternationals that had started in February 1961.

The only close id for any sports car cl*** were these two listed.
