Hot Rods Project X project

  1. Me too. I have the sets of reprints of Project that PHR sold, and often wonder about the Pontiac powered Deuce.

Well done! I remember Project X vividly. Thanks for allowing us to follow your build.

Yeah I can’t believe I missed this thread. I had a yellow 57 Chevy like that for the first few HAMB Drags. it had just received that yellow paint job when I bought it so I just went with it Public opinion was about 50-50. They either loved it or hated it.

I subscribed to Popular Hotrodding magazine for about 10 years starting in 1976. You bet project X was influential for me. my favorite version was the Hollywood Knights movie.

Sold the rev limiter chips from the MSD box on E-Bay. Total down to $3364.90. Transformed my battery to look like a DieHard . I used some black ABS and trimmed it to fit. Then took my hot knife and melted a margin around the perimeter. Cut some holes and glued on some caps I had laying around. Had some stickers made. I'm assuming they had a battery hold down at some point so I put one on mine. This stuff may not be perfect but until somebody builds a better Project X clone it'll do. Still not settled on an air filter. CIMG4302.JPG CIMG4303.JPG DSCN5432[1].JPG DSCN5433[1].JPG DSCN5435[1].JPG

Looked through my old project X books and not a single picture of it with an air cleaner on it IMG_4564.jpeg

Nice job on the battery cover! You are nailing the details.
