The 56th Annual Street Rod Nationals is a month away. There will be 8,000/10,000 cars there. Despite what some people say about it not being limited to pre 66 vehicles, there will be far more pre 66 vehicles there than you can possibly spend time admiring them. This is an invitation to those of you who want to see a premier hot rodding event and maybe enjoy some of the local attractions as well. There will be more cars than your legs can walk past. Consider that as a personal challenge. If you have a mobility cart, bring it because this is a LARGE event. It will get hot outside and you can go into the main building and enjoy an ice cream. There will be professionally built cars on display and many vendors with displays so you can compare products. Many will offer show discounts which if you need some higher priced items, you can save a bunch. Summit will probably have their 10% discount and some catalogs with sale numbers you can use for about a month. Helps offset the cost of attending. There will be seminars inside the buildings conference room. There is a company that rents mobility scooters but you better make a reservation before the show as they always rent every one they have. I'm attaching a few pages that laud all the sights in Louisville. Myself I don't think a lot of the stuff is worth seeing, but you might enjoy taking the Mrs. on the Belle of Louisville, or seeing Churchill Downs or the Louisville Slugger Museum. Personally I don't care for downtown Louisville after dark and would look for reservations in some of the smaller communities outlying Louisville. Anyway, those of you that live in driving distance and might be on the fence about attending, give it a try. I think you will find plenty of things (vehicles) that you will like and maybe even make a friend or two. Click on the page below to see if you can make the map large enough to see. OOps....this is the map you need to click on. It has some notes. Just to the left of the Hot Rod area there is an Amu*****t Park with an entrance from the Fairgrounds if any family members want to go there. I'll be riding an old Snapper Lawn Mower that I converted to a mobility Scooter. Say "Hi" if you see me scootin around. It'll have a license plate that says "ZZAAP".
Been going for about a decade. This will be the first year I actually drive a car there rather than catch a ride. Look for my pile with new wheels.
How old are you ratfink? I walked my *** off for many years, now at 80 if I want a scooter I will get one.
I'm 65. I have 2 or 3 places that I go walk, go hiking on occasion, and still ride my bikes. when I go to Goodguys Pleasanton next month I will walk for 5 hours and take take a several hundred pictures. it does get harder every year, when I get home I can barely walk from the car to the front door. I may need a scooter when I am 80.
Looks like a great forecast. Maybe a little rain Wednesday night but a cold front coming in to break the humidity and be in the mid 80s according to the locals in Lexington.
About 80 miles East, but not in the mountains. Supposed to be really hot through Wed. A little better Thursday then low 80s and low humidity Fri-Sun with sun.
