Here is an esoteric piece of automotive history in the form of a working vacuum gauge. It was made by U.S. Gauge for Maybach-Motorenbau before the war. The company was a producer of high end cars for the German elite & later went on to produce parts for the Nazi war machine. Count Zeppelin was in cahoots with the company & I found this picture of him flying one of his machines over the Maybach factory. I guess it's the ultimate irony that U.S. Gauge was supplying gauges to them right before the **** hit the fan. Anyway, the actual gauge is a rear mount that fits into the standard 2-5/8" hole (like two of the holes in the 1932 Auburn gauge panel). The mounting holes are like 3-1/4" on center. It has curved gl*** & is in great condition. It's a lunker. It would be a great functional conversation piece in a pre or post war post war speedster or hot rod. When's the last time you've seen one?
