At "Grumpy's shop in PA, I remember seeing "Iron Mouse", but nobody's mentioned "Grumpy's Toy"??? Or "Old Reliable"?

My dad had a '69 Nova he raced at Niagara Falls Dragstrip in the early 70s called "Quarter Pounder". He was sponsored by McDonald's.

  11. When I was in high school in L.A. in the late '50's it was cool to have a name on the rear quarters. They were usually cringy by today's standards. Things like "Love Charm". "Miss Carriage", stuff like that.

My "cool older guy" neighbor who was a high school sr when I was in 7th grade had a 49 Plymouth rag top painted Baby doll blue that was slammed as low as it could go that had Hung tu low in lettering that resembled what you saw on a Chinese restaurant on the quarter panels. The name really fit that car. It was the quintessential 1959 High school parking lot ride.

I like it when all of the cars and boats have a theme to the names. My pulling truck is the Ugly stick, an old circle boat is called stick around, Might call the 51 Sticks & Stones. I need to put little stick figures on the tow vehicle of my stick family toys.

A few of locals I recall as a kid, lettered, stout street racers. A primered '55 Chevy 2dr post "Hayseed" (IIRC w/409). Another was a '62 Fairlane "Scrap Iron". Lastly, an actual E/SA class racer that saw street time. A robin egg blue '62 Chrysler 300 H, "Brutus Wedge". Ahhh the mid 60's........

Downloe joe 33 post about the back up pickup, it was built here in St.Louis by Hollie Swindle, a friend of mine that has since passed. On another note about boat names. The two best ones i remember were "Sin Or swim" and "wetspot"

Back in 1966 there was a new silver Nova S.S. running around Addison with 96 Tears painted on the rear quarters.
And a Mustang with Katsass painted in an arch over the rear wheel well.

Nice one! I’ve been a fan of bungie since the early Halo days, and I’m still impressed with how they keep delivering. Their world-building and gameplay mechanics are some of the best out there. Destiny continues to evolve in ways that keep me coming back, and it’s clear the studio still has plenty of passion left.

But I'll never forget Steve Evans:
“Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! See Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen take on Don "The Snake" Prudhomme in a best-of-3 all-out match race!"

Interesting story surrounding that car too.
