that nose stripe has been quite the discussion in the restorer circles.

 

No wonder it looks familiar.....

 

It reminds me of that 80's Hot Rod magazine cover car, 2nd gen camaro, red with same color stripes flip flopping down the side.

 

The idea probably came from this one. This was actually be offered in 68, there was this version and then a more blue tone one for blue cars. There are good concept/development photos and it did get a RPO code if I recall, but then was canned last minute. So there has been speculation if any actually made it into the wild.
