I'm curious about Gasser builds. How many of you have built yours with non conventional engines? I have no problem with the sbc, bbc or hemi, but how many are out there without those engines? I love the gassers. Mine will be a '40 Chevy coupe, injected Olds and a Clutch Turbo. What about you? Below are a couple of extra cool cars that caught my attention at the Hot Rod Reunion years ago.

I've owned and built gassers since they were admired in the 60's, and long after the trends went towards muscle cars, and pro street cars. I still own and build gassers, but haven't built any with what people would consider uncommon engines. I did build my '63 Falcon gasser using a BBC engine, and Super T10 4 speed trans. That got a lot of Ford guys panties in a twist whenever they saw what was in it. My Austin gasser is a SBC, as is my '39 Chev Coupe gasser. So both are pretty common engines for a gasser build. I'd have no problem at all with something less common, but these were easy choices, and inexpensive to build. My builds are always budget minded, so that drives my choices more than brand loyalty.

Thank you for posting those. I can appreciate the time and effort that goes into quality builds like yours.

Having raced in gas classes since the mid sixties, I have seen all sorts of combinations. Build what you like.
