The guys from Last Refuge had a 1948 Buik convertable on Ebay. It did not hit it's reserve. A very good friend of mine is trying to buy the car. He has emailed them and called them. They will not return his calls or respond to his emails. Does anyone on the hamb know these guys? Are they on the up and up? This is starting to feel like a real shady deal, I wonder if they even have the car or really want to sell it if they do.
they do exist- legit in other words. But they are SLOW I ordered an A frame and it took about 12 weeks past their projected date and a lot of emails for delivery. Nice work, but slow. In reading past questions about them on the HAMB, its the same thing, slow to respond but on the up and up.
I bought a perimeter frame from them. The experience was positive. In my case, communication was great and they gave me a cut in price due to the fact that I looked at an old ad that didn't reflect current prices. I didn't get my frame instantaneously, but I also didn't have any unreasonable expectations. The workmanship was good for the price IMHO. They don't seem like shaders to me.
Thanks for the words about them. I just don't understand why they will not contact us back. You would think that if they are advertising something for sale and have a buyer they would want to close the deal.
the reason for slow shipping is he lives works in the middle of no place. i think he has to drive awhile to ship parts mike
I got a 1932 ford truck bed from them i think it looks great (its a weld together kit), the price was Excellent. it was a ebay deal it took a long time to get it. I would buy from him again. Here are some pics of the last refuge bed Kit. Good Luck
I contacted these guys to order a rpu cab last spring. He told me straight up that he had so many orders for the rpu frame/cab/bed kit that he couldn't commit to a cab alone. I appreciated his honesty. (I'm always in a hurry for these things) I got the impression that he has high demand. That must mean he does good work. I'll be calling him again when I get ready for a bed kit.
Hi, Finally a HAMB member,My name is Norb and I own Last Refuge Hotrod. We started 2 years ago in January selling a Model A pickup bed that I had made while building a Rod to sell. I started in a friends garage with a borrowed bead roller and brake , now we are in our own 130,000 sq ft factory, building one complete car every 2 - 3 days. Wow. so needless to say with that kind of growth we have had some tight spots to get thru. Good news is that we are finally getting caught up. Bottom line is always quality but we are working on speed too. Thanks to everyone for patience and understanding. My personal # is (970) 739-1965 Toll free 866 882 2749 Website lastrefugehotrod.com Norb
Hey Norb, Thanks for the info. Glad you are now on the hamb. Good luck with the business. Do you have any pics of the A pick up kit ***embled and done. I would love to see what they look like all together.
H How bout' it norb? I'd love to see you as an alliance member too. I have been waiting to order a bed for my 34'. Always looking for a better price! Maybe you could hook us HAMB'ers up with some special deals? Just thought I would try.
Norb, Welcome to the HAMB! I think I emailed you or maybe talked on the phone about an eBay deal. If my memory is right you mentioned you had made Miller and Bugatti frames in the past. That says a lot about your abilities to produce parts. Best wishes, Bob
I have a 40 bed that I bought from him good looking bed, was slow getting it but would buy from him again.
Hey Thanks for the replies. We have quite a few cars out there being built so its just a matter of time till we start seeing them at shows and in magazines. Some pretty well known builders have them and are busy working on them. I would consider donating a body and frame to a HAMB build for charity if anyone wanted to organize such a thing. We are building a very traditional "show car" and look forward to taking it to Viva Las Vegas 2007. I will debut it here... hows that!
Norb, That sounds like an offer. Now how about donating a bed to me.. LOL I will be getting my order in soon enough. Can't wait to see you at Viva.
I live in Temecula CA and purchased a frame and bod from Norb and the quality is outstanding! Couldn't be happier. I hope to have it finished by Viva and parked next to his. Definitely worth the wait.
I saw an ad in a magazine my head was stuck in as I slowly trailed along behind my wife at the grocery store. The RPU stuff was so cool, I whipped out my camera phone and snapped a pic of the ad to look up online later. Beautiful! ~Jason
The man and his products are for real. I bought a double Z'd Model A frame from Norb. Nice workmanship. It is under my 29 roadster.
Hey Norbyrattler---I hear a lot of very positive things about you guys. I was in touch with you about 3 years ago when I was trying to decide whether to build or buy the bed for my own roadster pickup. I ended up building my own, but I liked the experience. Since then, I keep hearing a lot of good things about Last Refuge Hotrods. congratulations, and keep up the good work.---Brian
Hamb, Just got back from Detroit auto show. Saw some cool stuff from the future. Got to meet the new Ford Design team and was impressed. Getting ready for Grand Nats in Pomona Jan 26, 27. We will actually have a booth to display our car for the first time. Come by and check it out in person. Norb
