I remember seeing his image on our electric bill , here In Oklahoma, years ago, but never saw any of the cool items you guys are showing! Maybe I just didn’t look! Bones
When I was in elementary school in S. Texas in the '60s, we always were given book covers to protect the textbooks with Reddy Kilowatt on them. Sent from my SM-G965U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I worked 35 years for a huge electric and gas company , I don’t ever remember seeing any Reddy Kilowatt stuff anywhere around there . I live where the electric is provided by a coop company , and I see Reddy stuff on there trucks in the past .
I was the parts manager of a car and truck dealership in New Mexico. I found upstairs a couple of PNM (Public Service Co. of New Mexico) reflective vehicle door decals with Reddy wearing a sombrero. Wish I had grabbed them before I left. This was in the late 80's.
You had to pay to use Reddy. So Cal Edison did for a long time but quit. In the 80's I paid a pin manufacturer to make the stamping die and make them. I ordered 500 at the time. Technically I could not sell them. So I gave one away if you purchased a rock from me. I do have an original as a stick pin and it was way thinner than the br*** mine were. 90% Of mine were of the tie tac/lapel pin verity. I Sold over 3000 over the years using the the $$$ for Bonneville. Made 1.50 on each one. Years later I saw in the suppliers catalog a guy called "Electic man". I believe they were trademarked or at least registered.
This sticker, seen recently on the back of an electric car, is probably not an authorized use of the image.
Just went through my recent find of Reddy stuff. Some cool pieces coming...here's a 1953 foldout. Front, middle and back.
